Cervical Erosion

Featured Replies

Hi ladies!

Really need some urgent advise. I have had mild (as my doctor in Europe said) cervical erosion since 3-4 years ago. Never had a treatment for it. But now... I think I really need to take care of it.

I'm a twenty-five year old lady. I have vaginal discharge, intermenstrual bleeding, as well bleeding after sexual intercourse and occasional pain during intercourse. On examination by a doctor from Phuket International Hospital he said I have cervical erosion or ectopy (which was not a surprise). My PAP test showed no abnormality and swab tests for infection were negative. He prescribed me some antibiotics and

told the hospital doesn't have any other treatment for erosion. But this bleeding really worries me especially after sex.

I know that there are other treatments for such a problem - cauterising or freezing. Do they have them in Thailand? I haven't recieved straight forward answer from any doctor in two international hospitals on Phuket.

Thank you.

If you have some info but are not willing to post publicly, please PM me.

Kind regards,

please pm the health forum moderators Sheryl &/or fbn for advice. I will also move this to the health forum if you want?

Are you on the pill (oral contraceptiove)? Because if so simply going off it in favor of a different, non-hormonal method of birth control often resolves this problem.

Otherwise, given that it has persisted and is symtomatic, can do cauterization in Thailand, in fact I find it hard to believe could not be done in the hospital you went to. Suggest you try Bangkok Phuket Hospital , email and specifically ask if they have "a gynecologist able to do ablation for persiistent, symptomatic cervical ectropion." While you are at it, email the hospital you did go to with same inquiry. I find that Thais often say something is unavailable when in fact there is some other reason why they cannot provide it e.g. if they personally aren't skilled in the procedure.

If that fails, let me know either posting her or by PM and I can give you some sure places in Bangkok. But really hard to believe such a simple procedure not available in Phuket.

The cervical erosion (officially called cervical ectropion) could be the cause of the pain during intercourse and bleeding, but I am not sure it accounts for the vaginal discharge which might have another cause.

If it is consistency like cottage cheese, probably candida (yeast)

If yellowish or yellow-green and frothy, might be trichomniasis in which case if you have a regular sexual partner he may also need treatment.

If it ihas unremarkable consistency but a fish-like odor, probably bacetruial vaginosis.

Since you have already been screened for STDs with negative result I suggest you pruchase gynecon suppositories, available in any pharmacy, these treat the main causes of non-STD vaginitis e.g. candida, trich and bacterial vaginitis. Keep in mind tho that if it is trich, male partner may need treatment too.

I'm assuming it is not just the normal vaginal discharge associated with varuious parts of the hormonal cycle. That is clear in color, changes in amount durinmg the cycle and at its peak is of cosnistency like the white of an uncooked egg. Needs not treatment, normal.
