Where To By Spirulina In Thailand?

Recommended Posts

Are there any local sources for best quality or organic spirulina?

Or are there any stores that sell Nutrex or Source Naturals spirulina in Thailand?

Have already dealt with a Chaing Mai source that was recommended, but is not that great quality. Also GNC spirulina that is sold is over processed.

Are there any places that would have a good quality product here?

The last option is to ship it all from abroad, but would first like to see if there is a viable source here yet.

My wife just bought a bottle of tabs at the local market. Says they are made in Chiangmai. Don't know about quality but here is a website that distributes them.

TV Direct

I am adding that my wife got the bottle of 100 tabs at the local health food shop for 340 B versus the website price of 490 B

She says this product is very popular here in the Banchang area

Thanks. That is actually made by the place in Chiang Mai that just sent us a really unsatisfactory Spirulina sample.

There is only 1 spirulina farm in Chaing Mai right now, so all of that must come from them.

In the product sample that we got, it was very gritty, and had both Spirulina, the green pieces, and brown pieces, like sand or clay, composing about half of the product. It was also crunchy, which is not pure Spirulina.

Hopefully they will improve their manufacturing and purification for this product. But for now, this one would not be advised.

It is surprising that Thailand, for all its health and holistic health bents right now, doesn't have any good health stores, or even a good source of basic items like this, yet. Hopefully someone opens a good store here to source products like this, soon. Or maybe Emporium or Villa can start a good health section for items like these.

I get spirulina in CM from the health food store and its perfect consistency. I assume it comes from the one farm but not sure. It costs about 270 baht for 250 grams of powder.

It's not as super powderized like the stuff I would get in California but its pretty good. I have never experienced any different colors or textures. It's very uniform and fresh tasting.

I get mine at Ban Suan Pak store in Chiang mai.

But it's just an algae pigment...

Actually, found a good product at Emporium, in the Gourmet Market (top floor) in the pharmacy, next to the cashier line.

The product is in the right wall aisle, in the corner, in a green box, says CinaGreen on it. It is the only Spirulina product they have at that pharmacy right now, so the attendants would know which product it is.

says it is made in Japan, distributed by a Thai company

The tablets inside are small pressed tablets, 200mg each, at 80g total per box.

The tablets are uniform dark green and look and taste very pure.

It is 80g at 600 baht, and much better quality than others that have tried here.

rating: 3.5 stars ****

Other sources we tried here in Thailand that would NOT recommend:

GNC spirulina (had fillers in it, over-processed, and 4x the cost at 1000 bt per 45g bottle) - 2 stars **

Boots pharmacy spirulina- also not great quality. this one also impure and not clean - 1 star *

Chiang Mai Boonsom Farm Spirulina - Very bad quality, also had fillers and sand or grit in it and very impure, bought from Thai Organic Life in Samui, who sold it falsely as an Certified Organic product, although they knew it was not Certified Organic. Would not accept a return, bad customer service. The farm also sells under many different websites and names, including Boonsom's spirulina farm, Green Diamond 1, GD1, etc. basically the only spirulina farm in Chiang Mai right now, so avoid it. Would also avoid Thai Organic Life, the store that sold it as organic, although they also knew it was not organic. NOT recommended. negative-5. Avoid.

Would only really recommend sourcing Spirulina in Thailand for short-term use, eg a couple weeks. There doesn't seem to be any stable, high quality supply here right now.

Would recommend importing a best quality Spirulina from the US for long term use. Source Naturals Organic Spirulina is very good, 4.5 stars, and Nutrex Hawaiian Spirulina is said to be good, but have not tried that one yet.

More of that story….I contacted

Thaiorganiclife.com

about this incident.

As I use their spirulina daily… they sell here in Samui and really love it myself.

By far it has the best flavor of any spirulina I have ever tried and has the best lab documentation to back up the product as well.

I studied the stats and they look very good to me.

Its low temp dried which is really hard to find too in Asia.

Organic certification is next to impossible now to source by honest producers…even the Hawaiian stuff isn't certified organic any longer due to regulatory procedures.

So I think you can't blame a good intended biz who was caught in the change and regulations BS can you?

Bad mouthing another biz the way you are... when they are doing a fantastic job here in Samui is very lowly if you ask me.... and only make you and your biz look cheap and unprofessional.

I see you are trying to make a Co here and by making another Co doing a good job here look bad it reflects bad on you more than any one else.

I personally met the owner of thai organic life and everyone knows her here and says she is top quality folks on the island and never try and make any misrepresentation and such.

By the way I personally also know one of the top yoga pros from the US who owns top yoga studios in Bangkok and Samui and now makes pro yoga formulas for export.

He claims this brand of spirulina is one of the top grade products in the world.

He has no financial interest in the Co what so ever.

I do know Thai Organic life normally has a top reputation here on Samui

Just to hear the other side of the story... I asked them about you and they claimed they have never dealt with a more obnoxious and difficult client in 10 years of doing biz here

And normally they do everything they can to make sure the client is happy

They admitted this was the first customer in 10 years of service that they had ever given up on and told to go jump in a lake.

I think you must be a real pain in the butt to deal with … could this be possible and more the real truth?

Sense your naming names ....why dont you be a real man and tell us all.... your biz name?

I would like to go visit your shop and see how your service is?
