Muay Thai Shorts In Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Hi all,

A friend of mine owns a Muay Thai gym in Holland and asked me to send over a bunch of Muay Thai shorts in different styles and colors. Does anyone know a wholesaler or factory in Chiang Mai that produces good quality shorts at a reasonable rate? I already went to the nightbazar, but I got the feeling that I’ll be paying too much there.

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

Sorry, I can't help you out with a wholesaler, but there is a shop where the Muay Thai boxing takes place on Loy Kroh Road which sells 'Twins' products. The boxing ring itself is enclosed by beer bars. I'm guessing you're going to need to bargain hard, but if you're looking to by a decent number of shorts, then they should come down in price. And if my memory serves me correctly, their was another place in the 'Kalare Centre' that also sold 'Twins' shorts and equipment.

I'd imagine the two places I've mentioned are more likely to be selling the 'genuine article (Twins) than what the stalls at the night bazaar are, but it depends on what your friend wants. If he insists on the genuine article then you'll need to look very closely at what your buying. If he's happy with lesser quality goods, then go to the night bazaar. Remember, it's been a long hard low season in Chiang Mai for those night bazaar guys, so bargain hard, walk away, let them chase you with a better price, they are desperate for a sale.

The wholesaler I buy my silk from has them ,charoenprathet road easy to find across the road from a coffee shop called coffeebug :)

The biggest retailer of boxing gear that I know of in town is in the old city, close to Three Kings monument. I can't recall the name, but the sign is only in Thai. Anyway, if you're facing Three Kings, head to your right up the street, that's north towards Chang Puak gate. Just before you reach 7-11 there's a sporting goods shop on the left. In back is a a wide selection of boxing gear and they'd probably work a deal with you for a bulk order.

If you should want it from Bangkok, my next door neighbor makes those, I think very good ones or customised ones and mostly on order. He is the most unfriendly Thai person I ever lived close to. Never had a chance to say hello yet , 14 months since bought the house next door.
