Domestic Airasia Flight With Finnish Passport / Without A Visa

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I'm in Bangkok and I have to go to Phuket ASAP. However, my visa ended a week ago. My flight for my visarun will leave in the next few days from Phuket. Is it possible to fly domestic flights without a visa? Would my finnish drivers licence be ok so I don't even have to show my passport? Or are taking a bus or a flight through Kuala Lumpur my only options?

Hi,

I believe for non-Thai's a local airline will only accept your passport as identification, but I have never seen them check visas - they only need to see your picture and name information, so you should be okay.

However, you will be in for a fine when you go through international departures on your visa run, so have your cash ready.

However, you will be in for the maximum fine when you go through international departures on your visa run, so have your 20,000 Baht ready.

Why would that be the case? I'll only overstay 14 days so shouldn't it be 7,000?

edit: and thanks for the quick answer

Sorry, I edited my post already. Correct, it will be 500 B per day

Will you be staying in a hotel in Phuket? If so they are required by law to report your presence to immigration, or the police, and that may extend to info about your visa. Many small hotels and guesthouses don't bother with this but you should be aware of the requirement just in case.

If your flight to Phuket is part of the visa run trip, it should not matter if your visa is expired as you would have your other cross border flight ticket with you too.

If they ever go to see that page, be firm and tell them that it is what you are going down south to sort out.

I flew to Chiang Mai last week and my passport was with my lawyer but was told that a photocopy of the picture page was adequate.

Lo and behold it was so they never even saw the visa page.
