Im Irish, I am over 50, i have a non immigrant O visa it expires 18th nov 2009, I tried to extend for 1 year at Pattaya immigration office, I had everything like the 800,00 bht in the thai bank in my name for more than 3 months, except i put on the form my hotel address in Pattaya where i was staying, i was told i needed to own or rent a property and i must show a sale or a rental contract, for at least 1 year, it does not say anything about this on the forms or did i go on a bad day,

I have been to Thailand many times but i never stay any longer 1 month at any 1 time, i have a multiple entry visa, I come to Thailand maybe 3/4 times a year,

Can i just get the non immigrant O, mult/entry visa in my country every year and not have to keep the 800,00 the Thai bank. as i only need money in the bank if i get visa extended ?? what all the fuss about the money in the bank then???

If you never stay longer than a month, I wouldn't bother with any visa as you automatically get 28 days visa on entry as a tourist. If you plan on staying longer, just get a 60-day tourist visa in Dublin before the off. No need for the hassle and expense of non-immigrant visas. The money in the bank thing is the requirement for a retiree here but if you just apply for a three-month non-O in your home country, you won't need to show dosh. Not sure what the SP is in Ireland, but the likes of Hull in England dish out singles and multis on the premise of visiting friends. As I say, you don't need any of this as you're staying less than a month a time. :)

There is no requirement to rent property. You could try somewhere else, as you don't have a permanent address. (Not having one is the problem for the officer, not that you don't rent).

In your case, if you only intend to come to Thailand a few times a year for a month or so, getting the multiple entry non-O visa every year might even be better. (An extension of stay would cost 1,900 baht plus 3,800 for a re-entry permit, not sure about the price for a non-O multiple these days).

You will have no problem geting a new multiple non-O every year. Depending on the cembassy/consulate they might want to see some money or income.
