GolDeni Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi! Is anybody have a experience buying a boat in US or Japan and import to Thailand? Local price is too high! Any information about taxes, procedures?
Thaifan2 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 There used to be a high tax on boat imports ,but i heard it was very much reduced a few years ago .
raro Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 correct, the import duties are nil nowadays. Still, you have to pay 7% VAT! If it is a motor boat, don't forget that you cannot sell the engine for two years, otherwise duties are to be paid!
simasoli Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 hi, I am also interested in importing a boat, or marine engine and hardware to build my own here, but from the uk, what sort of boat are you thinking of? I want to import my Pantera 28, built in Miami, but its about 3'' to wide to fit in a standard container. although as a boat builder i may opt to build a new one here.
cat5 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Like Raro said, the import duties are now 0%. From what I've read, VAT has to be paid on the boat plus cost of shipping and maybe some other costs (which I can't remember). So, presumably the only thing left to be considered is how to get it here - presumably in a container. I wonder how much that would cost. Anyone?
