Southern command announces 30,000 vacancies

YALA: -- A job with the security services in the volatile southern border region might not be the most coveted position in Thailand, but the Southern Border Provinces Peace Keeping Command today announced that it was opening up over 30,000 vacancies to help address the problem of unemployment in the south.

Lt. Col. Saniroj Thammayot, the command’s assistant spokesman, said that the vacancies had arisen following the success of a joint scheme between the command and local administrative agencies to expand educational and employment opportunities for people living in the region.

The vacancies, which are open to residents of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and certain parts of Songkhla, are open to people regardless of their educational qualifications.

"Duh. Sarge, I have lost my rifle."

"Don't worry Zero, the otherside are using the same model as us.

Borrow one of theirs!"
