After freactuing his hip in Farangland, he came to me on the mend and has stayed for 3.5 yrs.....suffering many other fractures, as he has osteoporosis and his bones are turning to eggshells. The experience has been both good and bad for both of us. To say that he hasn't affected my life would be an understatement. At 90 yrs old and in constant pain, he gets kinda grumpy and I often get the brunt of his frustrations and pain being the primary care giver.

I have been doing it on my own, with support of my wife, but just recently admitted that we needed some outside help for his latest setback[ small fall resulting inanother fractured verterbre] and now slow recovery and I just don't have the time or patience for emptying bedpans and being waiter/busboy/go-fer and need to spend more time with my own family. Luckily we found a great [so far] caregiver for 7,000/mo and he is not only experienced with falangs, but he has the patience and compassion that I was loosing.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are othes out there that are doing the same....care giving a parent/family member/ or friend and would like to share experiences, resources and hints on care giving in this unique country, where there is not much English support for care givers, nor are there any geriatics drs available to consult with re: old folks.

If there are others here in LOS in a similar situation and would like to network and/or share experiences and if this post gets enough interest, maybe the MODS could pin it to provide info for other care givers and those considering it. Or just send me a PM and I'll reply.

Thanks in advance.....
