I keep getting patches of Seborrhoeic dermatitis around areas of my hairline. Ive used special shampoos and also Myda-B cream.

Vitamin wise i always take a multi-vit as well as 2-3000 mg of Eve Primrose Oil.

Even though i use these treatments each time i wash my hair (usually ever 2nd day) and the cream everyday, it eases up but doesnt go away. It just heals a bit and the skin starts to heal, then it peel/flakes and flares up again and im left with sore pink areas of skin.

I cant seem to get rid of it completely. Ive had it for around 6 months now. I cant pin point anything that could be exacerbating it. The weather?

Anyone has/had this problem and found something to really quell it?

Thank you.

Have you tried the Polytar shampoo? I find this stuff in itself amazing. (comes in soap form too)

Try washing with Aqueous cream and using Nizoral cream (ketoconazole) to affected areas....

Hope this helps :)

Eek your in Chiang Mai right?

it's a symptom of liver overload and blood toxicity. Go see Dr. Wang at the Chinese dispensary at Gat Luang. He will analyse your pulse for inbalance and prescribe customized herbs which you make tea with and drink it twice a day for a week. Costs about 350 baht. The tea smell is often terrible but you will notice improvement quickly.

Thank you for suggestions all.

gemmamccarron, Ive tried all the ones you have suggested EXCEPT polytar. Only because i was put off by the awful smell! I will give it a go though. Nizoral really dried out my hair, but i can probably be more careful with either solution by just putting it on the affected areas. Do you think it would it be worthwhile/safe to put it on the areas then leaving it for a while, rather than washing out right away?

CobraSnake id never even heard of liver overload and blood toxicity before! I was kind of scratching my head (hah, no pun intended) when i read that one, until i did just a quick google on "liver overload" and i do have some of the other symptoms in there. Although i eat a vegetarian diet (and have done so for 20 years) I eat normal foods and snacks within that, including some junk food. Im intrigued by Dr.Wang and prefer to try solve health problems naturally where possible, so i will give him a try. I did once go to a Chinese Doctor in the UK and cost a GREAT deal of money and i was given a bag of foul smelling twigs and things that i had to boil up and drink. It didnt actually seem to do much for me, but then again, i didnt fancy forking out the exorbitant rates to go back to him, or drink that truly awful tea again! But, 350 baht is WAY off the price in the UK thankfully, so ill give it a shot. Thank you for that.

Samuian, Salicylic Spirit? I feel pretty naive because i never heard of it (i have heard of Salicylic acid..and its in aspirins too if im correct). Do i just go into a pharmacist and ask for a bottle of Salicylic spirit 5%? Then apply the 5% to the areas?

Again, thanks so much guys, you have given me more info and advice than any Pharmacist i have spoken to about it!!

I'm having the same similar problems... I have this scaley stuff on my forehead, down the side of my face, and several patches now forming on my arms... I am a Buddhist monk living in a small country temple in Lopburi province. This just started about 4 or 5 months ago. I keep thinking it's maybe polluted water I bathe in. I'm headed back home to the U.S. next month and am planning on going to the Veterans clinic when I get there. My question is like yours, can I get this stuff at the pharmacist here in Lopburi? Don't need the shampoo, as I have no hair and don't shampoo... :)

Eek, It's my guess that your liver is not doing its job but it may not be overloaded. It might be underperforming or other imbalances. Go see a good TCM (traditional chinese medicine) practioner and they will analyse your pulse and tongue and go from there.. TCM often does not work like a western drug but it seeks to bring harmony to the body as opposed to just alleviating a symptom. The problem with just alleviating a symptom is that it often destablizes something else.

If you get treated by Dr. Wang then let us know how your health responds.

I was actually think along the same lines.. but unfortunatly, I don't know any Chinese doctors here in Lopburi... wish I did...

Polytar is excellent as long as you don't mind smelling like a newly laid road for an hour after you've used it :D

I'm getting used to it after about 40years use!!! :)
