Thai Consulate In Los Angeles - 2 Entry Tv Or Non 0?

Featured Replies

Hello all, first post here but I read the boards regularly for info - thanks for that.

Anyway, after staying in Thailand the past 7 months on 30 day stamps and one TV , I'm going back home to see my family for the holidays. I will be stopping in LA on my way back to Thailand in January for the purpose of getting a visa. I was just planning on getting a double entry TV, however I've read about some consulates outside the SE Asian region (such as Perth) granting a multiple Non-O for the purpose of visiting friends/fiancees with a the proper paperwork, though I assume LA probably would not do this.

So has anyone delt with the LA consulate before?

Are they picky about paperwork?

Will I be able to get a 2-entry TV easily or will they only issue a single?

Any chance at Non-O for friends/fiancee?

Any info/help/advice would be greatly appreciated. BTW I'm 29 years old, so no retirement sticker for me, obviously.

Thanks!

LA has a reputation for being unhelpful. You should be able to get a double entry Tourist Visa though.

We applied for Non-O in LA based on visiting friends/relatives and they said they can only issue a Non-O visa if you're married to a Thai Woman - so there :-).

Lite beer is correct; first LA is not a Consulate rather a EMBASSY and unhelpful and rude at times. (be prepared)

Non IMM Visa O (90) days $65 single, $175 multiple entries/year: must be married to Thai or Retired and over 50 years.

I know it's not L.A.

In Melbourne Australia I would normally apply for a triple entry tourist visa, normally allowing me 3 x 60 days plus one month extension.

Last visit to the consulate in October, because tourist vias's are free until March 2010, they would only give me 2 double entry. I explained I would normally get a triple entry. After some scratching of the head and me offering to pay for a 3 x 60 days tourist visa, they offered me a 2 x 90 Non Imm O.

I did have to pay, but I got my 6 months.

Oh and I am not married to a Thai and I have no friends; so there ;-)

Are they picky about paperwork: If you have seen the TV tourist Application Form, you will notice there is not much information required.

Will I be able to get a 2-entry TV easily or will they only issue a single: 2 x60 days are very common and free right now.

Any chance at Non-O for friends/fiancee: Do you have a Thai fiancee? Do you have friends prepared to sponsor you?

Just call them and ask for advice.

add the Thai Embassy in DC to the above - my sister was given a 20 minutes (very rude) lecture by a Thai Woman when she needed to have documents (Buying a condo) notarized by them. So much for the land of smile :-)

Correct me if I'm wrong - I believe the Thai Embassy for the US is located in DC (the Nation's capital) and in other cities including LA, San Francisco, Portland etc would be called Consulates. I know the one in LA is called: The Royal Thai Consulate - Los Angeles.

whatchamacallit you 100% correct. Countries only have ONE Embassy (usually in the Capital City), the rest are either Consulates, Missions, or Interest Sections

Thanks for the info all.

Looks like I'll probably just grab a double entry TV and hopefully they're not too fussy.

One more question: I'll be through LA twice - once on my way home and once on my way back, so if I go to the consulate on the way over in mid December (as opposed to my way back in mid January) and receive the sticker in my passport a full month before I enter Thailand for my first entry, will that result in losing a full month of stay on my TV, since the enter before date might be 90 days from the date of issue? Or will they issue it for the proposed date of arrival in Thailand on the application? I definately would like to get the full six months out of it, so is this possible if I get my sticker in December and then enter in January?

Thanks again!

You want to obtain as near to use as possible. It will always have a start date of the day it is actually issued.
