Yesterday I went to get an extension on my Non Imm O single entry with all my paper work in order, I was told I couldn't get one as my last two visa's had been extended :) (last visa Non Imm O single, before that Non Imm B multi) and they will only extend once per year. :D

I'm confused by this as I thought you could extend every visa, regardless of how many times per year, the woman officer also told my wife I was the 4th that day to be turned away.

I was offered a 7 day stamp, but decided a trip to Mai Sai was in order, then back to Laos. In the mean time I guess I should deposit 400k and start the ball rolling on a 1 year extension.

Under what basis did you apply for your application, retirement (must be 50+), marriage to Thai, visiting friends, Thai child ?

Non Imm O Visas can be extended for 12 months if you qualify.

The only other extension available would be a one off 60 days to visit a Thai Wife or Child.

This must be the 60 day visit wife extension of stay and under new regulations it is not listed as being limited. Under old rules there was an undefined "one time" provision. Expect either local interpretation or new directive to correct Police Order 777 (as in the case of 2 months account balance).

Sorry, should have made that clearer I guess, yes I was applying for a 60 day extension because wife and child, thanks Lite Beer & lopburi, is there a limit to the amount of times you can obtain a Non Imm "O" from Lao? As I intend to do a run to Mai Sai (leaving right now) then nipping over to Vientiane for another 90 day Non Imm "O", which will be the third in a row, in the mean time I will deposit 400k in the bank, so I don't have to keep messing around.

I was intending to go back to England at the start of 2009 to get another 12 month Non Imm either B or O, but my wife was pregnant so I stayed to look after her, we had a boy who is 5 months old now :)
