Kan Win
The Colonel an Amateur Photographer P9224578 Shrine 2_ B_ C_tonemapped Olympus E-3 1/30s f/2.8 iso320 Only One Shot and played around with it. Changed the settings in two of the three photos that I used and then using 'Photomatix' to 'Tone Mapped' it . Added Sharpness and less noise. Final touch up with ACDSee Pro 2.5. Sawadee P.S. It was a killer to walk up and back down to take this photo Edited December 12, 2009 by Kan Win
phetaroi
Probably the best shot I've seen of this. Certainly waaaaaay better than mine! And I agree, the hike up to the cave is a heller! I doubt I could still do it.
Kan Win
Hi 'phetaroi', So it was a mountain to walk up, down, up and once again. I had to do it, since I have seen so many photos of this place, but none have never done any Justice to this "Unseen in Thailand Cave". phetaroi
Hi 'phetaroi',So it was a mountain to walk up, down, up and once again. I had to do it, since I have seen so many photos of this place, but none have never done any Justice to this "Unseen in Thailand Cave". Sawadee I think you've put it perfectly...yours is the first I have seen that has "done it justice". The mistake we made there at Khao Sam Roi Yot is that we walked from the main parking area over the beach where you begin the cave hike. Then the footing all the way up to the cave is what makes it so challenging. It's not the distance or even the change in elevation...but it's one of those places where I kept thinking if one was careless on could break and ankle...and yet I watched all the Thais doing it in their flip flops. I wish we had taken the boat over to the beach, then only walked back. Ah well...live and learn.

lifeincnx
Beautiful shot. You mention you took one shot, but was just one exposure or bracketed (i.e. normal, +1, -1, etc.)? Also can you check your meta data for the lens focal length? Solid composition, sharpness, exposure... great work.

plahgat
Beautiful picture like the way you have smoothened it given it a soft mysterious glow! Here's my attempt from back in 1988. I stayed a few days in a bungalow near Tham Phraya Nakhon and went up there everyday around 10.00am when the sun would strike the Royal Pavilion, but this was my best shot. Plahgat Here's another one. Edited November 21, 2010 by plahgat

danh
Hi Kan, Nice exposure - looks lik HDR to me - did you take bracketed exposures and combine? You mentioned photomatix which is used for creating HDR images i believe ( is is better then the HDR function of PS CS5 or Dx0 6.5 ? ) Regards Dan

Solid composition, sharpness, exposure... great work. Thank you The Original photo re-sized for all viewers:- Hi Kan, Nice exposure - looks lik HDR to me - did you take bracketed exposures and combine? Came out Khrap, but after that climb up and down (approx 2 kms walk at the ripe old age of 60) I had to get the photo to work hence Photomatix to fuse the photos together. As for PS CS5 or Dx0 6.5 don't know as I never used them. The Colonel an Amateur Photographer Kanchanaburi Win P.S. Even Khrap photos Kan be made to look not too bad given the software now available
IanForbes
I like all the patchwork of colours. It could be reduced down to a nice abstract for that point alone.
