December 13, 200916 yr Saw rare Maybach today, thing must have been 6 meters long. Kewl limo style ride!
December 13, 200916 yr There is at least one of those cars in use, in this creamy beige color, run by a well know family in this country. But I did not get a glimpse of that car to date :-(
December 14, 200916 yr That's one fast limo. The new models come standard with a 6 liter twin turbo V-12! 0-100kph in under 5 seconds.
December 14, 200916 yr Make a great taxi - even quicker ride in from swampy! Got close to one at the showroom in Siam Centre last January. Ugly looking brut of a car.
December 14, 200916 yr For the price of these, you'd expect they would have a license place holder in the correct width for Thai plates
December 14, 200916 yr When you see one of these do you think: 1. Successful businessman 2. Corrupt government official 3. So that's the old money Elite that wants to maintain the staus quo they keep talking about. 4. Can crime pay after all.
December 15, 200916 yr Prices Maybach automobiles are priced to directly compete with Rolls-Royce. The 57 models are between € 543,000 and € 616.000 whilst the 62 models vary from € 634.000 via € 722.000 to € 1.500.000 for the 62S Landaulet Those prices are for Holland but might be higher in LOS LaoPo
December 15, 200916 yr Another great fat gas guzzling monster for a very few people to show face or alternatively saying I don't about the hoi polloi. I am rich and I am showing it. And no I am not jealous at all, just amazed that anyone would actually want to buy one. What was the King saying about a sufficiency economy again?
December 15, 200916 yr I was at the BKK motor show a couple of years ago when the first one was shown in Thailand. Because of my contacts I was allowed to sit in the back of it and "play" with all the switches. All I can say - after reclining to a near horizontal position and changing what the sky looks like - that it one heck of a car, absolutely crazy but wonderful. Now for the interesting bit : After getting out I had the nerve to ask the price and was told 'about 100m Baht' and before I could could say 'I 'll take it' was then told it had already been sold !!

Thanks, mate.
December 16, 200916 yr When it was originally designed the engineering department forgot to tell the styling department they were needed!
December 16, 200916 yr For the price of these, you'd expect they would have a license place holder in the correct width for Thai plates My assumption would be this a grey import, since I can't imagine the company not providing a suitable moulding. This is, of course, often a give-away with Mercedes S' where the front plate moulding is clearly designed for the EU style [usually UK for RHD].Regards
December 16, 200916 yr It doesn't have 2 letters on the number plate, which if it is a private car it should have. Perhaps it's an embassy car, or UN.
December 16, 200916 yr It doesn't have 2 letters on the number plate, which if it is a private car it should have. Perhaps it's an embassy car, or UN. This is simple temporary red plate till the permanent white one come from Department of Land Transportation
December 16, 200916 yr Are the red plates a different number to what you finally get on the white ones? I'm not sure but perhaps they are.
December 16, 200916 yr ^ Yes, the plates are provided by the dealer and must be returned when the official vehicle index number is issued. Regards
December 17, 200916 yr For the price of these, you'd expect they would have a license place holder in the correct width for Thai plates What chance the white plate will have a 'Hello Kitty' surround?
December 17, 200916 yr For the price of these, you'd expect they would have a license place holder in the correct width for Thai plates What chance the white plate will have a 'Hello Kitty' surround? Somehow I think a Doraemon one would be appropriate, deeeeep pockets required
December 17, 200916 yr Can you imagine the import tax for Thailand? I'm pretty sure that anyone who could afford this car in Thailand would have the ...... resources ....... to avoid petty annoyances such as Import Duty. Patrick
December 17, 200916 yr Whoever bought it, the price on resale will drop like a stone the minute they drive it from the showroom. Will lose at least 1/3rd it's value in the first year. In Europe, Maybachs and other high priced cars are not selling and second hand prices are next to worthless. Nice car though, even if Simon Cowell has one.
December 18, 200916 yr I was following this up North Pattaya road the other day, ugly looking thing. I guessed it was a Maybach due to the "M" badge - looks more like something the Chinese have cobbled together from the old Rover 75 parts bin Cheers
December 18, 200916 yr Are the red plates a different number to what you finally get on the white ones? I'm not sure but perhaps they are. I'm sure the owner is retaining the Resd Plates for as long as possible, just to show he has a "new" car as no one will know what a Maybach is.
