No Need For A Work Permit For 2 Day Consultancy ?

Featured Replies

2 questions,

I have been told that for 2 a day consultancy at a company there is no need for a work permit ?

Same person told me that there is a 'temporary work permit' for this kind of work ?

I think that he is being frugal with the truth, but can anyone help me with facts ?

Thanks a lot

There is no work permit for consultancy anymore.

For any type of work you require a WP. Stay under the radar and go about your business quietly.

Strictly speaking he requires a temporary work permit from local labour office, which can be issued for a period of up to 15 days as detailed under Section 9 of the Alien Working Act 2551 (2008). However, given the short period of working, he may practically decide to work discretely under the radar but it is not legal.

Can you give examples of consultancy ?

I think it would also depend upon whether you are to be paid directly by the Thai client in Thailand or will the remittance be sent to some account/company ex-Thailand who is your employer as to which 'B' Visa MFA category you belong: Doing Business in Thailand [2.1(2) No WP required] or Working in Thailand [(2.1(1) WP required].
