We have our premature baby (1500 grams) since 2 weeks in NICU nad we have many problems to pay the hospital as I was kicked out from regular work with workpermit 2 days after delivery. Have been working for the same company for more than 3 months with workpermit, but seems that the owner of the company didn´t pay our social security. Which is the nationality of our son, is he also thai because born in Thailand? If it is so, has he the same rights for treatment as "regular" thai citizens? Thanks for your replies Katjabell

As long the mother and father are Thai citizens, or either one of them, then yes, of course, the baby is Thai. If both the parents are farang, then the baby is, of course, a citizen of either of the parent's countries. What are the nationalities of the mother and father?

The nationality is based on the nationality of the parents. There is no Thai nationality for being born on Thai soil. Only when at least 1 of the parents has Thai nationality does the child also have Thai nationality, and possibly the nationality of the other parent: you. That depends on the nationality laws of your own country.

You might have another problem, concerning your right to stay in Thailand. If you were on an extension of stay from immigration based on employment, your permission to stay ended on the day you lost your job. If you are on a multiple non-B that is still valid, there is no problem.
