Interesting how a country is so unstable because it cannot take criticism of its main relegion. Of course I am refering to the LoS. I guess its ok to lambast a Christian faith..?

The instability of Thailand has nothing to do with the religious tenets of its people. What was the point of your post? Is Italy's chronic instability a result of having the Pope living next door at the Vatican? I don't think so. Is the topsy turvy world of minority government in Canada a result of the citizen's religious beliefs? I don't think so. Is Taiwan's infamous fisticuffs in its national assembly due to religious beliefs? I don't think so.

So, what's your point?

If you have a problem with a religious belief, of all the beliefs to pick, I don't think Buddhism ranks in the top 3 religious beliefs of conflict. History indicates otherwise.

oh and btw, Troll. phooie.

Can always spot those who are sensitive to relegious teachings and beliefs being discussed.( with a rant about Taiwan parliament thrown in for some obscure reason) No trolling here . If you don't know the point about talk how relegion affects how a country's people behave then I aint bothering to tell you.

Who says Thailand can't take criticism of Buddhism? Never heard of the monks issuing a 'fatwah' against anyone, have you?

geriatrickid raised a perfectly valid point citing all the other countries problems having nothing to do with religion.

If you can't be bothered to explain your point in a topic you started maybe your own argument is pretty weak or nonexistent.

Frankly, it sounds like the OP has confused Islam with Buddhism. If anything, Buddhism in Thailand is what makes the difference between it and Vietnam, for instance, where the state religion is the Communist Party of Vietnam, the most corrupt organization in that country. Or China for that matter.

And whenever foreigners critize customs, how do they think the locals will react? With gratitude?
