Urgent Advice Needed!

Recommended Posts

I recently sent away for two visa's by Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery. My application included a return address envelope, again stamped with Royal Mail Next Day Special delivery. This was all delivered on the 20/04/05 as stated by the Royal Mail's tracking service.

I have yet to recieve my visa however. This may be no cause for alarm, but I was told on this forum, visas are usually delivered within 5 days maximum. Todays date is the 25th.

Could anyone confirm that due to the fact I live in the Isle of Man, this is the reason for delay? Also, could someone please explain to me any emergency methods to retrieve my visa if by this Thursday (our date of departure to thailand) it has yet to arrive, or if the insurance that covers Next Day Special delivery could pay for Same Day Delivered passport applications.

Cheers very much!

Process on the mainland takes 5 days max (normally 3). I/d be more worried about when you are going to get your new passport.

Cheers... My passport arrives tomorrow.

I was the one who said 5 days max........you said and i quote above my passport arrives tommorow being the 12th.....was it delayed?

Where did you send it Liverpool? What i would do is give them a ring today (if still open) believe its Mrs Wainwright you need to talk to (but dont take that as gospel) she/ll tell you when/if its been sorted and posted back out.

I still stand by my statement its 5 days max on the mainland, can only think its down to the Isle of Man postal service.........anyway give them a ring first see what the score is.

Cheers for the feedback. Passport arrived on time, which should have allowed me to apply for my visa the day after. Problem was, my mate who I'm travelling with took an age to get passport photo's and passport to me as he is working 2 jobs day + night. Our applications were sent on the 19/04/05.

I tried to ring the liverpool consulate numerous times today only to be answered by an automated responce which stated the office's opening hours, 9am-12pm + 2pm-4pm. All my calls were carried out during these hours. :o

Still, 4 days to go... hopefully its down to the manx postal service as you stated, thaiflyer1.

Cheers again.

Maybe he sent it to the embassy in London - they take 2 days to issue a visa.

Arrived 20th - so maybe accepted in next morning (21st) - since they only take in visa applications in the morning.

Add 2 BUSINESS days - and that takes you to the 25th (i.e. Today). - It's possible it's only been posted back this afternoon.
