Hi,

I'm wanting to get a non-immigrant O visa and extend for 1 yr, one of the required docs is household registration any idea about how the wife would go about getting one of these?? Shes a thai citizen but has been living here in NZ for approx. 20 years since she was a baby so she has no idea what this is nor is there any info on the net about a household registration in thailand.

Thanks, any help appreciated.

There are experts that will tell you better than me. I am not sure in the case of a Thai citizen resident abroad. I guess that as any other Thai who wants to change her residency she has to go to the competent office at the city hall, with the proper documents of the place she lives (depending if you rent of if you own the place). If you live in Thailand (and move to another place in Thailand) it is very simple and fast (a few minutes) to change your residence. As I said I am not sure in your case, because your wife doesn't have her house registration (as far as I understood)

I believe you are talking about a return to live in Thailand? You wife will also require a Thai ID card and for that must be listed on a Home Register in Thailand. Normally she would use birth certificate and family will put on and then obtain ID card. Every Thai must be listed on such a document - so if born in Thailand her birth certificate will be key (and she may already be listed on a family members document). If she was not born in Thailand use foreign certificate at Embassy to start paperwork. Has she obtained a Thai passport?

The houshold registration tells who lives in a certain house. When she has a Thai passport and birth certificate she can be registred on someones household book, unless she buys her own house. Then she will get her own household book. She will have to ask family or the landlord to be registere on someones househod registration.

Nope.!!!

family member is sufficient father mother who ever has her/his own houseregistration on HOUSE OWNER.........NOT DEPENDENT.

they even provide you with a yellow book

(dont have to be married)

In order to have a house registration your wife needs to be resident in Thailand. It is a sort of residence certificate.

The OP wants to apply for a non O based on marriage and extend it for 1 year. In order to do so, his wife name must be on a household book. It is used as a sort of a residence certificate. When applying for a 1 year extension, immigration want proves that you and your wife really live in that place.

How does it work if a non-thai father wants to visit his children, not married to their mother.

Household registration mentioned at govt (website https://www.immigration.go.th/en/?p=14714 )

That is the a copy of your child's house book registry.

Your child must be with you when you apply.

You will need their birth certificate and a copy of it.
