regedit Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I know it works both ways but is there any benefit from taking your foot off the accelerator when changing gear in manual mode in an automatic (as you would in a manual) or is it best to just keep the revs as they are ? Always wondered...
katabeachbum Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 keep the revs up. no need to slow down, if needed less tourque when auto shifting ECU does it for you
stingray Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 keep the revs up. no need to slow down, if needed less tourque when auto shifting ECU does it for you Full speed trottle down and than shift in "R" for Racing
khundon Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 The only requirement when driving an automatic car is, you have to be there when you can.
Pitbullman1 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 The only time to use it as a manual gearbox is when you are approaching a large traffic island. Ease off on the accelerator and put it into a lower gear this will stop your vehicle from surging back and forth. Other than that leave it in drive and when you need the feel for speed just hit that accelerator pedal to the metal, it will automatically gear down and take off like a jet!!
Spoonman Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 The only time to use it as a manual gearbox is when you are approaching a large traffic island. Is this to come to a complete stop then hold it in first to get over the traffic island ??? Edit: Google tells me the following, Soapdodgers call a roundabout a traffic island. Rest of the world call a median strip/pedestrian refuge a traffic island.
