G/Day All,

This has probably been asked at least a thousand times but I can't find an appropriate answer anywhere.

My Thai Wife and I have 2 daughters (1 Thai and 1 Ozzy), how hard is it (from the Thai side) to register our Ozzy daughter as a dual Thai / Australian citizen, without renouncing her Australian citizenship.

My Wife and daughter No 1 still hold Thai PP's only while No 2 daughter has an Ozzy one.

Daughters are 3 and 2 years old respectively.

Thanks in anticipation,

Cheers, Ozzycol.......

I suspect you are saying one was born on Oz and has not yet obtained a Thai passport. You need to register birth with Thai Embassy (using Oz birth certificate) to obtain the Thai birth cirtificate and then can obtain Thai passport. There is no dual citizenship issue with Thailand. She is Thai but needs to go through the registration procedure of birth. Later she can be entered onto a Thai home register and at normal age have a Thai ID card made.

Firstly thanks for the reply.

When you say she is Thai do you mean that this is by desent as her mother is Thai and if so will the oz birth cerificate (Thai translation) on it's own be enough to satisfy officials?

Once again thanks, Ozzycol.......

Your daughter has Thai nationality because of her mother. As Lopburi says, you will need to register the birth at the Thai embassy which will enable a Thai birth certificate to be produced. The Thai birth certificate is then required to obtain Thai passport. A translation of the Oz birth certificate will not suffice.
