The following links to reason and science are posted for those who would like to find out about the science of climate change and global warming.

I strongly suggest that you simply ignore the so-called "skeptics" (actually crackpots whose ideas come from the Energy Mafia) because they have no intention of debating (actually can't debate the scientific facts).

I also suggest that each time they post, you post these links to science and reason. Why? Because each time these links are posted it maximizes the probability that the search engine spiders will find the links on TV. So, more people will reach these links when they search for climate change and global warming. And that hurts the head-in-the-sand skeptics.

Nils-Axel Morner let me guess he is a Maverick lunatic?

Yes, it appears the man is quite a major league KOOK!

So who is Nils-Axel Mörner, and how is he able to see these things that every other scientist in the world can’t?

Well, in addition to his activities “debunking” climate change, Mörner is also an enthusiast of dowsing and water witching.

And he has some very weird ideas about archaeology. See here, here, here, and here.

And he is associated with fringe wacko/antisemite/conspiracy theorist Lyndon LaRouche. Here’s an interview (PDF) he did with the LaRouche publication Executive Intelligence Review.

And he is an “allied expert” with the Natural Resources Stewardship Project, a group that is controlled by energy industry lobbyists.

Verdict: there may be credible scientists raising valid objections to anthropogenic climate change theory, but Nils-Axel Mörner is not one of them. He’s a raving kook.

And it gets worse; in 2004 Mörner misrepresented his professional position in a presentation to the Russian Academy of Sciences:

But you could say exactly the same for anyone who believes in a God.

But you could say exactly the same for anyone who believes in a God.

I don't take your meaning. Can you please expand on it if you can? What is the relationship between this issue and believing in a Deity?

And what's it all got to do with Bangkok Sinking?

Sorry Jing I know you have been eagerly awaitng my response, OK "Mörner is also an enthusiast of dowsing and water witching." ok so he is therefore a "Gook" as per your quote and you want to rubbish his input, I replied anyone who believes in a God is therefore also a gook as both are = daft IMO. How many of the pro agw global warming scientists believe in a God?. Therefore those that do can be classed as gooks and if following the opinion above can be "discounted" , after all whats the difference between dowsing and God for daftness, they might as well say they believe in hobgoblins and pixies its just that believeing in "God" is socially more acceptable to many but just as daft for me. :)

This is an ideologically driven (not science driven) right wing American think tank. They have a political agenda. Period. Best to ignore. They certainly do not represent mainstream scientific thought on the topic.

Lets follow the money a bit.

The head of this outfit Robert "Bob" Ferguson used to be at Frontiers of Freedom, backed heavily by EXXON OIL company as their "science" global warming skeptic guy. Now at his new think tank, they are not required to divulge their funding under US law, and they choose NOT to reveal. How much do you want to bet that it is a funded by EXXON CORP? It all reminds me of the old tobacco lobby which bought off scientists for decades to argue that cigarettes don't cause cancer. Pathetic, and tragic.

Lets follow the money a bit.

Following The Money is always a good idea.

Take, for example, Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, the chairman of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and mastermind of its latest alarmist report in 2007.

Apart from this position, he holds a portfolio of over 20 directorships and advisory positions in banks (Credit Suisse and Deutsche Bank), automobile (Toyota), oil and energy companies and investment funds heavily involved in ‘carbon trading’ (Chicago Climate Exchange) and ‘sustainable technologies’, which together make up the fastest-growing commodity market in the world, estimated soon to be worth trillions of dollars a year.

Thus the extraordinary situation exists whereby the world’s leading ‘climate official’ can also be personally involved in so many organisations which stand to benefit from the IPCC’s recommendations.

Agreed on that point.

Sounds like a smart man. So is he funded by Exxon? No? Hmmm.

Oops! Thanks for reminding me.

In 2001, there were concerns in U.S. energy circles that the then-head of IPCC, Bob Watson, was too alarmist and anti-development.

Environmental group Friends of the Earth alleged his [Watson's] expulsion was due to lobbying by the U.S. government and American energy businesses. Exxon is the group's main target for anger, following a revelation that in 2001 it urged the U.S. government to replace him.

Exxon's recommendation as a replacement? Dr. Rajendra Pachauri.

  • 9 months later...

I want to say I am happy this topic came up.

If my memory serves me right in the 1990s there was talk of relocating the capital for various reasons and there was a place already picked out I will research for that later.

The big reason i find this so interesting is I think this 2010 rainy season will be a big test on Bangkok viability to keep the water at bay. Up country where all the floods happen there has been extensive work done at dredging the rivers and digging away at the banks of the rivers making them deeper and wider so the water flows south and doenot flood the northern areas.

All the water during flood season that in the past was absorbed by rice fields, jungle rural areas etc is now going to keep flowing south and end up in Bangkok.I feel this will be a real test. I actually wanted to make a post about this but was unsure how to approach it.

I will leave it at that and go searching for info on where it was they had discussed moving the capital too in the past.

I am so happy thai visa keeps threads open and we can revisit them. With that in mind can anyone see a real threat to bkk in the next few days? Perhaps a little more flood damage than in the past? I think the powers that be arenot doing as much as they can for the north because they need all their resources to save parts of bkk. anyone else have thoughts on this?

Global warming is an absolute nonsense and is driven by socialists.

It's the biggest fraud ever.

Hey anyway that's my opinion and like they say opinions are like <deleted>, we have all got one.
