6 month ago I visitited 'Red Baron' I found about 2 km on the same side a large place of second hand scooters for auction.

The security guard gave me a leaflet in Thai and English and told me each Friday and Saturday are public auctions.

The location is excactly opposite Carrefour on Ramkhamhaeng Rd. (same road as 'Red Baron,) and here is their webside

Tho it can take months for the books to come through.. And you have to pay attention to time limits on moving plates to different provinces which adds another small fee..

Bikes from the auctions very cheap tho, often low miles often needs new plastics.. But 18 - 25k on nuovos and airblades with light use.. Ideal if you rent scooters to buy 5 at once for the price of 2 new ones.

i bought a couple of bikes at auction once, honda clicks to be exact...neither one of them started and I had to hire a pickup truck to take them to the shop. The auction i went to was manheim, they say you can start the bikes before bidding, but the truth is most of them have been sitting so long the batteries are dead or the employees drain the gas to use in their own vehicles.

Manheim is the most expensive auction i have run into, the bikes are way overpriced and they charge an additional fee if you win a bid. The selling prices were only about 2000 baht cheaper than used bikes on the normal thai market.

One guy bought a bike and it didn't have the starter, now how does that disappear from a bike? The only upside i can see is that they take care of the paperwork for you and you get a greenbook...although you have to wait 2-3 weeks to receive it since these bikes are finance repossessions.

After you win the bid and pay , you have to wait another 2-3 hours to receive the bike - this is the part that really sucks.

At the time i had purchased a 2007 click for 24k baht and a 2009 click for 32k baht. I couldn't get rid of them, the price is to close to a new bike. This was about 9 months ago.

I actually lowered the price for below what i bought them for AND THE AUCTIONEER AT MANHEIM called me and asked about buying it, his voice was very distinctive....so I can vouch that Manheim's operations aren't just for repoed bikes, they get them however they can.

By the way, i backed out of a bid after winning it and now i'm banned from attending the auctions, no sweat of my back though - stuffs wayyyyy overpriced.

Other auction organizers may have better prices
