i will have difficult to fit eyes (astigmatism), so i am assuming rutnin may be the best?

any other 'contact lense experts" i should consider?

also where do you buy your monthly supply?

Hi Chivo,

I'm a seven year user of contact lenses. I also have an astigmatism, and I use Toric lenses. I've been to rutinun eye hospital, and they unfortunately know little about contact lenses, especially with astigmatism. I once went to Phyathai hospital in Sriracha, and met an excellent doctor that told me the only hospital that knows anything regarding contacts is bumrungrad in Bangkok. I am on a seven year old prescription, and luckily my eyes has not changed. Since I have a plus, and a minus in each eye, my contacts cannot be made in Thailand, so I order them from Los Angeles via the Internet once a year.

thanks barry. i would have thought rutnin were the experts. maybe i will check bamrungrad then...

I have astigmatism and have been wearing contacts for about 10 years. You can get soft toric lenses at many places especially through the Charoen Optical chain of stores. About 2,200 baht for 6 months supply of Bausch and Lomb lenses. Only problem is if you have a prescription which is very different from the standard sizes they make. I sometimes accept a size that is almost the same, as there is usually no noticeable difference, but check with the optician on duty. If there isn't one go somewhere else as the assistants sometimes order lenses that are too different - to keep their sales going.

The newest are called Pure vision, which breathe somehow? and are a bit smaller and better for your eyes, but I haven't found them in Thailand. Also Bausch and Lomb, they are in Australia and no doubt other countries. Good luck.
