Its a good service,I used it fom C Rai to Samui(around 2 weeks and cost 3000 if I remember correctly)

the only problem was getting the parcel tape off the saddle but you could put

a cover on that yourself, make sure the bike is taxed etc.

I bought my Nouvo from a dealer in Bangkok and didn't want to drive around the big city, so had them ship it through the post office to the post office in Ban Phe (Rayong province). Arrived fine and the post office phoned to say it was there. Drove home!

Sent a small bike CM to Koh Pangan 2300bt (500bt island surcharge incl).

Sent it back to CM from Chumporn for 1800bt.

Also my girlfriend mails her Wave around Thailand all the time - no problem.

Just wheel it into the P.O., leave the key in the bike. Take your registration with you. Fill out the forms, pay the bill.

Way less than a week in our experience...

ps - Bigger bikes cost more

Just want to send my bike to Phuket from BKK.

Tryed the phone, but they said something around 8000 baht.

Where i should go, to discuss the real price?

Cheers, Andrey

Your nearest post office. If all you need is a price I saw a post office right by Prakhanong BTS

shipped two bikes:

bkk-samui

bkk-chiang mai

bkk-samui : 1400 baht basic 7 day / ferry fee=200 baht/ express within 3 days =200 baht / insurance =200 baht/plastic wrap =50 baht/ total= 2050 baht

bkk-chiang mai : 1400 baht basic 7 day/ plastic wrap=50 baht/ total 1450 baht (only took 5 days)

Bikes leaving Bangkok, get sent to the distribution center at Laksi, ship before 11am at the On nut PO and it will make the distribution the same day...I shipped to Chiang Mai on a Saturday, PO is open a half day.

pick up at post office.

There is basic insurance coverage up to 10k baht included....the extra insurance for 200 baht covers up to 20k baht.

The employees tried to talk me out of it both times, they said they haven't lost a bike yet..so no need.

I use the On Nut/Srinakarin post office....going towards seacon square on srinakarin, hang a left on on nut...and the post office will be on your right

Bikes less than 150cc cost less.

have as little fuel in there as possible.

In contrast bkk-chiang mai by train was 1200 baht. PO is much better.

For shipping to CM there is an overnight service that probably only costs a few hundred Baht. The company is Nimseng, located in the fruit market near Bobe. The deal is they send trucks with fruit and vegies daily from CM, rather than have the trucks go home empty they transport good back at a very cheap rate.

We send large boxes all the time, very reliable.

John,

the Bo Bae Market is near "Prince Palast Hotel". The coordinates are about "13.756268,100.518637". It is right next to the railway line.

I am just working very close to that area.

Interesting, I was also looking for transport options to Chang Mai or other areas. And the solution is right next door. I will check it out next week.

The Thai gent who maintains my bikes get second hand stock sent up from the dealers he does business with in Bangkok by the bus service.

BKK dealer strips bikes down, packs in strong Cardboard, usually old cartons and boxes, sends them up on BKK-CM bus as cargo in lower 'Hold'.

My friend is advised by mobile that items have left and local bus company call to confirm arrival.

Powerband said last November

if anyone sends by post be sure to wrap the bike in plastic, they put these 2 huge ass stickers on your bike that can peel the paint off.

Handy to know, no one else mentioned that. :D

Well, here, I would approach the nearest moto-taxi guys, offer 4 of them 60bt each for 10 mins work

to lift the bike onto the truck / Ute.

Same at the destination, needs a little planning, but can be done.

Cover the bike with a sheet or tarp.

Make sure that there is very little gas in the tank as it can flood out owing to the angle of attack when lifting onto the back of the truck.

Without a ramp.

  • 1 year later...

Used Thai Post in April 2010 to move a Yamaha Fino from Phuket to Sa Kaeo province

Fees may have changed but at that time it was 1900 baht plus 100 baht for packaging - and they did a good job, took mirrors off (stored under seat) , wrapped my helmet and taped to the bike. As we sent it a few days pre-Songkran expected a long delay but got a call from SK PO (they won't deliver, we were another 50+ kms away) to collect about 10 days later.

Once he'd confirmed I was owner/had my part of the aperwork he removed all the bubble-wrap, even started it up for me.

I sent a triathlon/racing bicycle at the same time, 1000 baht and it arrived undamaged a couple of days before the Fino, along with 8 cartons of household items, all arrived intact.

No complaints from me.

Sorry, I dragged up an old thread - I was just hoping someone had some experience with unregistered bikes in the post?:jap:

I bought an unplated bike in Korat and just rode into the post office they made notes of the frame and engine numbers by the nice postman and six days later it arrived in Chaing Rai, no problem at all cost around 1000 baht if i recall.
