Non-imm B 1 Year Visa Holder In Bkk

Recommended Posts

I have been told I need to do 90 day visa runs with my 1 year non-imm B Visa.

Is this true?

I was also told by another person I just need to go to immigration every 90 days instead of a visa run. Is this true?

I'm over the 90 days now.... by 6 days... what should I do? :o

HELP!

Yes, you need to run outside of Thailand every 90 days, and now you're in trouble. Every 90 days (or as often as you wish, BEFORE 90 days), you must leave the Kingdom. And it's not three months, either, it's 90 days. Look at the entry stamp (not the one-year visa) and it says you were supposed to leave on a certain day, which apparently is last week.

I'll let the others advise you what to do next, when they wake up.

If you have a work permit you should have gotten a 'extension of stay' stamp in your passport, it is this that allows you to do 90 day reporting rather than visa runs.

If you DON'T have an extension of stay you are now on overstay and if caught by the police will get locked up and deported :o

Get on a flight out ASAP (go Air Asia to Penang), you can pay the overstay fine at the airport (you will get an 'overstay' stamp in your passport). You can then return immediately and get a new 90 day stamp.

If you DO have an extension of stay in your passport, go to immigration TODAY and report your address, you'll probably get away with a ticking off as you are supposed to report one week either side of the 90 day line.

Rule number one of living in Thailand, "Never, ever overstay your visa".

Anyone got a better idea ???

Here is my experience. When you arrive in country with your non-im b visa they will stamp you passport that you are admitted until the expiration date of your visa. If you have a work permit then you only need to go to the immigration department every 90 days on Soi San Plu and report. If you are over your 90 days reporting then you may need to pay a fine. If you do not have a work permit then you will need to do a border run. It's much cheaper to take a day trip to poipet than flying (Jack's Golf runs a pretty good service everyday to Poipet for only a couple thousand baht.) If you have overstayed then you will simply pay a fine at Poipet (there is normally a line of people paying overstay fines so it is quite common).

For myself, I have overstayed my visa. paid a nominal fine at the airport on my way out, no problems. Also, I did not do my 90 day reporting for about 6 months. When my visa expired, I left the country no problems. Immigration officer didn't even check for it.

If you overstay your visa don't sweat it too much. You will only have problems if you are caught by the police before you try to leave the country and those odds are slim to none unless you break the law.

One more very important thing. If you visa is a single entry make absolutely sure you get a re-entry permit. If you don't then when you leave your non-im b visa is cancelled. If you have multiple entry visa then no worries. I don't know if you can get a re-entry permit at the border but you can get at immigration on Soi San Plu or Don Muang airport.

There's one thing hokie about this opening line: "Here is my experience. When you arrive in country with your non-im b visa they will stamp you passport that you are admitted until the expiration date of your visa."

No, the one-year non-im visa has a one year date on it. Each of the three times I've entered Thailand for the first time on a new non-im b, the only stamp I get in Thailand is 90 days, not the expiration of my one year visa.

work permit's another story

This is incorrect.

You do not need to break the law to have your Passport Checked.

The Police have stopped my Taxi in a Soi in the Suburbs between

Ladprao & Ramkhamhaeng Roads three times in the past year.

They were checking ALL Vehicles & ALL Occupants.

It was between 10.00pm & 11.00pm each time.

I am not regularly out at that time - so I do not know

how often they set up that barrier.

Fortunately I had my Passport with me each time

- I ALWAYS carry it.

Thanks for all the other helpful comments.

If that little stamp in your passport says you have 9 month to go, all you need to

do is report your address to immigration.

Otherwise you have overstayed and should leave asap to regularise your situation.
