bigtime
Does anyone know of a good way to weatherproof a big sliding screen door such as many condos have here? I notice I'm losing huge amounts of aircon thru this leaky thing. It's a standard thai style, sliding glass door about 12 feet wide and 7 feet high. And of course not double glazed so the heat just pours in. If it was my own house I would just replace the whole thing, but I can't so I want to figure out the cheapest alternative that will save on electricity. Any handymen out there with experience on what products are good for that here? some sort of film maybe, or a way to stop air leaks?
hawthorne
Caulk the frame. If you have direct sun light into the door then adding a film to the window will reduce the heat. The older a sliding glass door is the less efficient it tends to be. As you stated a single pane window has its limits. good luck

bigtime
Do you have curtains?Helps insulation/loss alot. yes. I'm after something a bit more high tech than that. If i was back home I would get double glazing or some sort of plastic film to create an airlock but I don't see a lot of products of that sort here....
