Where To Metal Detect?

Featured Replies

I brought a metal detector with me from Koh Samui (because it was good for the beach). However, I'm not sure of a good place to "treasure" hunt around CM.

Any ideas?

Did you find anything on Samui?

My left ankle would probably set it off nicely --- but I'd have to hurt you if you started digging!

Yes, a lot of coins and jewelery that I sold. About 1 in every 15 hits was something good. Plus the excitment of not knowing what you're going to find is fun. But I don't know where to go here in CM.

I reckon the old opium war lords would have buried a bit of gold in the mountains. (Don't ask me why, same reason why pirates bury treasure).

Might be worth a hunt up around Mae Salang.

I'd be interested in the legalities of it, what if you came across a big cache of buried treasure, would it belong to the finder or the Thai authorities?

and the odd land mine ot two most likely. That would up the excitement factor !

Ping river at lowest flow stage, south of the airport ring road. coins from katongs which are set afloat. Probably no big finds but 5 and 10 baht coins by the buckets.

probably be a few waves in the klongs, hondas thats is :)
