Lufthansa Pilots Strike

As a consequence of the strike measures which have been initiated by the German pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit, Lufthansa is making corresponding adjustments to its flight schedule from today Monday, 22 February 2010 to Thursday, 25 February 2010. About two thirds of the affected Lufthansa-operated flights will have to be canceled. However, Lufthansa regional partners such as Lufthansa CityLine and others will operate their flights according to schedule. Additionally, Lufthansa Group Airlines, Swiss International Airlines and Austrian Airlines as well as Lufthansa's Star Alliance Partners will offer capacities to Lufthansa customers in Asia.

Lufthansa maintains daily services to the Asia Pacific region and is working on finding travel solutions for all its booked passengers. The airline will, however not be able to offer its full usual flight program out of Singapore and its South East Asian Gateways in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City / Saigon and Bangkok. The special flight schedule will help customers to find out ahead of time, if their flights will be affected.

The special flight schedule for the period of the strike can now be accessed at lufthansa.com which lists all flights that should be operating according to the current plan. Depending on the actual operating conditions during the days of the strike, further changes can be anticipated to the special flight schedule.

Customers who have purchased a Lufthansa ticket for a flight which is operated by a partner airline (codeshare) will not find the LH flight number known to them in the special flight schedule, as the partner airlines are not affected by the strike. These flights will operate as planned; flight numbers LH1400-2629 and LH5050-6999).

Customers who did not provide a contact number or email address in their booking reference to be contacted by Lufthansa can get in touch with their travel agent or Lufthansa via the airline's website or telephone hotlines.

Passengers already booked on a Lufthansa flight during the period from Monday, 22 February 2010 to Thursday, 25 February 2010 can rebook once free of charge on another Lufthansa flight, if they wish to change their travel plans – subject to conditions that their tickets were issued before Thursday, 18 February 2010, the new travel date is before Monday, 31 May 2010 and their arrival and departure destinations remain the same.

Should a flight be canceled, and the purpose of the journey no longer applies, passengers can cancel their booking free of charge.

Passengers on domestic German flights, whose flights have been canceled, can independently purchase a rail ticket for the identical route in the same travel class and later, together with proof of the flight ticket purchased from Lufthansa, claim a refund.

The pilots demands are reasonable, I supports them.
