Asked For 3 Months But Got 6 Months

Featured Replies

Hi

When I applied for a visit visa to the UK for my Thai G/F we asked for 3 months but 6 months were granted. Once the visa was granted just booked her flight to return at the end of the visa. I have since been informed that if she doesn't return within the 3 months we asked for it could make it much more difficult when applying for further visas. Is this correct? I'm pannicking a bit now as the return flight would be money wasted.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

The minimum UK visit visa is 6 months, hence you got a 6 month visa. No, you won't be in trouble, but next time you apply for a visit visa, you would probably be best putting a line or two in the covering letter as to why you asked for 3 months and took all 6 when you got it. It won't stop you getting another visa, but it may become an additional factor when weighing up your overall application if you are borderline.

I put in my visa application for 6 months, but would be gratefully for 3 months, i got 6 so my lady stayed the full six months. It did not have any bearing on my next visa application , as long as you lady returns on time within the visa return date there should be no problem.
