Royal Rainmaking Bureau to start its operation in March

BANGKOK: -- (NNT) - Royal Rainmaking Bureau will start its operation in March, according to Warawut Khantiyanan, Executive Director of the Bureau of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation.

Mr Warawut said the royal rainmaking operation will start from March 2010 onward. However, the operation can only be conducted in accordance with the weather condition. He stated that the most draught claims were reported from the center region of Thailand as many parts of the area were for plantation and there had been less water at the reservoir.

Currently, there are eight royal rainmaking offices aross the country. Three were located up North in Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok and Phrae provinces, while two were located in the central Nakhon Sawan and Lop Buri provinces with the other two located in the Eastern Rayong and Sakaew provinces.

According to Mr Warawut, the bureau had planned to launch its new branches in Chanthaburi, Khon Kean and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces, the rest will be launched at Hua Hin in Southern Prachuap Khiri Khan and Songkhla provinces. The bureau might as well launch one branch in Ubon Ratchathani if draught was claimed over the area.

What an incredible waste of time and money. Think of how much better off the average Thai farmer would be if the money blown on this foolishness had been spent on proper irrigation techniques.
