spongeman
Well for sure not everyone will understand every element of the Supreme Court findings but people are not stupid, they will understand parts of it and they will get the flavour. The village people can't understand why the government is entitled to Thaksin's money. They have no idea what is really going on here...totally brainwashed. It is an uphill battle to try and educate them. A bit like trying to get a Met's fan to say the Yankees are a good ball team! How patronising. And foolish to boot as well. Gonzo the Face
OK, so the AEC was "legally sanctioned", according to this ruling. So why were they disbanded? Was that legal? If they had a list of the top most "unusually wealthy" people in Thailand, then they should have been allowed to keep going down the list, after getting Thaksin. It wouldn't have taken them long to get to the very people who created the AEC. Kn Jet and Kn Jamespittman they way you two are nit picking it would appear that you feel that things are not going the way you would hope. The way the two of you go on like "he did it why can't I" syndrome, leads me to believe that if we were in the states you two would be part of the Limbaugh Lemmings. frodo
Feb 26, 20104. Did the defendant cause damage to the state with his alleged alteration of the telecom concession fee to excise tax? The judges voted guilty verdict. The defendant abused his power to cause damage to the state by more than Bt60 billion. Voting result: Majority 7. On failure to enforce satellite concession contract resulting in public damage of Bt20 billion and resulting in the benefits to Shin Corp and Thaicom. The judges voted guilty verdict. Voting result: Majority That's 80 billion worth of damage so far. He has a little over 76 billion confiscated, I wonder if they'll bill him for the rest? And foolish to boot as well. spongeman I suggest you research "Abraham Maslow's pyramid" and you might understand where the people from the small villages are coming from. No one ever gave their village one million baht to spend as the village head saw fit. No one ever started a hospital insurance plan that only cost the patient 30 baht. Thaksin knew how to win over the "village people". They don't care about all the details. Those of us here, and you included, know how those plans failed. It is an uphill battle to try and educate them. A bit like trying to get a Met's fan to say the Yankees are a good ball team! How patronising. And foolish to boot as well. Not really. The reality was that TRT was built on the basis of reinforcing the existing 'infrastructure'. These individuals have worked hard to ensure that whatever happens it's not their fault, and most relevantly that the good [allegedly] was based on the actions of the TRT+their stewardship whereas the bad was clearly 'those dubious characters in Bangkok'. Ultimately if you keep saying something, even if it is untrue [but tricky to disprove, witness the complexities here in the analysis and judgment] it can become perceived as valid. This is not a criticism of 'village people' but a searing indictment of the way in which so called realpolitik is manipulated here.Regards
