Has any member any info as to why airlines place a higher price on tickets purchased in Thailand.

I did an exercise on a business class return ticket BKK to Newcastle UK and was quoted a difference of 46.000 Baht cheaper to purchase it in the UK. That is one hel_l of difference and quiet unrealistic.

Logically I would have thought, seeing that fuel, services etc are more expensive in the UK it would be the opposite.

I believe it is a fact that you must start your journey as stipulated on the ticket, so purchasing a ticket in the UK and having it sent here would not be valid.

Maybe there is a big surcharge in Thailand to pay for the new airport or some similar scheme to line the pockets of the fat cats.

It would be interesting to read if any member has any knowledge of this anomally.

Cheers.

Often if you deal directly with an airline carrier, they give you the standard rate without any discounting or special deals. Travel agents seem to have an edge.I find fares out of Thailand to be cheaper than those I can get out of Sydney. However,it is not possible to have them written in reverse from Thailand, i.e. SYD/BKK/SYD. :)
