Non Immigrant O Visa

Featured Replies

Hi, i came to thailand march 23rd 2009 on a non imm o visa. my next expiry date is march 27th 2010 but i have read and heard that if you cross the border the day before your visa runs out then you can get an extra 3 months taking your visa from a 12 month visa to a 15 month visa. is it still possible to do this, dont want to get to the border and then be told i'm not allowed back in the country. and also does it have to be exactly 1 day before your visa runs out? or can it be a couple of days before. thanks for any help on this.

Correct.

Your visa says "Enter before" date.

Go any time before that date and you will get another 90 days.

Do a border run before your visa expires and you will receive new 90 day permission to stay on entry. Latest date you can do this is the day before the 'utilize before' date marked on the VISA. You can do final border run anytime before visa expiry, but the longer you can leave it the longer the expiry date of the final 90 day permission to stay stamp on re-entry.

The key is before your visa expires - not the 27 March date of your permitted to stay stamp. Your visa obviously expires before that date if you entered on 23 March 2009.

Believe you are talking about obtaining a 60 day extension from immigration on the basis of Thai wife. If so, you can apply at any time during the last 30 days of your current permission to stay, and the 60 day extension would start from the end of your current permission to stay.

I have just looked in my passport and the utilize date is the 5th March 2010. My stamp in the passport says I have to leave on the 27th. But as my non immi o visa expiry date has gone what can I do?? I have to be in Thailand until at least 30th April as I have friends coming which has been planned for over a year and i'm waiting with my wife for the response of her settlement visa. Can I do the same as the above poster and pay for an extra 60 days?? Any help much appreciated i'm getting a bit panicked as 27th will be here soon. Also where is Phibun? If I can buy an extra 60 days is there more than one location to do it?? Anywhere near Bangkok?

You can not use your visa again so either the 60 day extension or a tourist visa seems to be your best option.

You need to extend in the location you reside.

So is it possible to obtain a tourist visa in Bangkok or do I have to leave Thailand to do it? I'm mostly between Bangkok and Krabi so if I can do it in any of those places will be a great relief. But I thought to obtain a tourist visa you had to be out of Thailand.

You must leave country and apply at a Consulate (next day service most places) to obtain a tourist visa.

The 60 day extension can be done at the immigration office serving your location inside Thailand.
