K Thong, charged with inciting rebellion, refused freedom

BANGKOK: -- Suspended Army specialist Maj Gen Khattiya Sawasdipol and six other men were released on bail by the Criminal Court yesterday.

However, Phornwat "K Thong" Thongthanaboon, charged with inciting rebellion following a YouTube message threatening civil war and daily bombings in Bangkok, has been denied bail and remains in jail.

Khattiya and the six others were each released on Bt200,000 bail. Khattiya was specifically ordered not to make any public statements threatening violence or causing worry to the public. The seven were arrested on Sunday and charged with carrying firearms without permission and hiding Phornwat, who was wanted for his YouTube video message.

Meanwhile, Bangkok's South Criminal Court approved detention of two men accused of carrying out a grenade attack on a Bangkok Bank branch on February 27. It was the first detention out of seven ordered at the request of Yan Nawa police.

Ekkachai Moolkes and Sawai Yangsanthia, a nephew and his uncle, confessed to the crimes after their arrest last Saturday. They have been charged with possessing firearms without permission and causing explosions that could harm others.

Despite his temporary release, Khattiya is facing a new charge after police found that a van in which he and seven others - including K Thong - were travelling to the Crime Suppres-sion Division compound was carrying a fake licence plate. The Army has verified the plate was fake and will soon file charges of document forgery against Khattiya.

K Thong has been charged with inciting rebellion among the public and intimidation, as well as violation of computer-related laws, following his YouTube video message threatening civil war and daily bomb attacks in Bangkok. He has also been charged with carrying a handgun without permission.

The Criminal Court judges who turned down his request for bail said he could commit the same crimes if he were released.

Speaking after the court appearance, Khattiya said he was considering lodging a complaint against a deputy commander of the Crime Suppression Division, Pol Colonel Sanit Mahathaworn. He said Sanit arrested him despite his plea that he was merely seeking to hand over K Thong to police.

"He stabbed me in the back even though I was trying to hand in K Thong, and he also recommended against my release by the court. He's a disgrace to the Thai police," he said.

Khattiya said he did not work for the Democratic Alliance against Dictatorship, but rather only gave promised to serve it in a security role, to guard against "a third party's disruption" during major rallies next week.

He said he would delete a list of 53 names of people with an anti-Thaksin Shinawatra stance from his website, having earlier said they "had been marked on the forehead".

By this time next year, I anticipate that;

1. K Thong will have a career as a Pattaya based rapper

2. Sea Daeng will be the name of a romantic bistro in Bangkok

3. PM Abhisit will be absent.

<deleted> is going on now? General Khattiya is accused of inciting a rebellion and yet he is released in time for the rally?

Seems to me the authorities want the guy out there.

Is it possible he's a double agent, and an agente provocateur?

Because the authorities are reluctant to indict the yellow leaders, this why.

There is a method to the madness.

If certain people are in jail during the protests next week they cant be held responsible for any violence that happens.

However, if they are freed now then it will be much easier to pin the blame on them if anything does occur. If anything does happen, who will all the Dem friendly news media outlets immediately point the finger at?

Money really IS everything here !!!!!

The story says "Khattiya and the six others were each released on Bt200,000 bail" implying 200,000 baht each i think. If you've been living here for 13 years i'm surprised you're amazed at this story. Is this the first time you've read the news in 13 years? :)

Khattiya, six aides released on bail

BANGKOK: -- The court has resolved to grant bail to pro-Thaksin Army specialist Maj General Khattiya Sawadipo and his close aides, except for the suspected bomb threat maker, Mr Pornwat Thongthanaboon, alias "K Thong".

Mr Uthai Sanaeha, the lawyer representing the embattled army specialist, yesterday sought bail by posting a land title deed as a bond for a temporary release, but failed to meet the bond requirement. The lawyer today decided to reapply for the bail by placing 200,000 THB for each suspect.

Major General Khattiya, widely known as "Seh Daeng", and his seven aides, including Mr Pornwat Thongthanaboon were earlier detained in police custody. They were charged with attempting to help the suspect evade arrest and unlawful possession of unregistered weapons.

Apart from Maj-Gen Khattiya and Mr Pornwat, other suspects are Mr Suwapat Chantima, Mr Mongkol Saraphan, Mr Chakcharas Kongsuwan, Mr Rerngrit Tumthongkham, Mr Charan Loypoon and Mr Suwit Khirirak.

The Crime Suppression Division on Saturday arrested Mr Pornwat on charges of instigating social unrest and causing the climate of fear in the country. The arrest came after the army specialist had traveled to CSD to ask about legal proceedings and a bail request for his close aid. The police team later spotted the van belonging to the army specialist which parked in the compound and, after a search, found Mr Pornwat seated inside. He was then taken to the CSD office for questioning.

The police found the suspect guilty of the Criminal Code by disseminating online information about grenade attacks and social turmoil in Bangkok after 27 February. The bomb threat maker was better known as a radio program host in astrology and political issues made through Camfrog video chat room. He, however, has denied all allegations lodged against him by saying that the video clip, which appeared on the Internet, might have been edited.

The CSD is planning to forward the case to the Economic and Cyber and Crime Division for further legal action against the defendant.

No surprise, there are no apologies to its readers by The Nation for yesterdays inaccurate reporting Seh Deang will kept in custody. that erroneous breaking news is still online.

Don't forget why these YouTuberEight 'terrorists' have been arrested: "Police detained the eight on suspicion of [...] uploading false information into the computer system."

False information on the internet - and The Nation continues with publishing misleading and distorted information.

specially the last line:

"a list of 53 names of people with an anti-Thaksin Shinawatra stance from his website, having earlier said they "had been marked on the forehead"."

that mysterious list. 53 people, anti-Thaksin, with marks in their forehead on a website of a Army Maj General, who is somehow a very special character and like to pose with a gun.

That sounds so dangerous, scary and frightening for the average clueless, right. came a couple of times in The Nation reporting. and i saw a few board members who fell for that tricky propaganda disinformation.

Anyone saw that list on Seh Deangs website himself or at least a screen screen shot of it?

so the The Nation suggested there is a page on his website that contained a list of 'enemies' with pictures of people with marks on their forehead? The Nation made a big headline about it.

Can that be true? Or what are the facts behind it?

I saw a list there. hah, that forum missing some button to hide a spoiler:

Seh Deangs website has also a webboard, a forum, similar to this forum here. Internet user can register there and write their own entries. If The Nation want held Seh Deang accountable for what appears there and blame him, then Suttichai Yoon must take responsibility for everything what appears here in this forum too.

board.sae-dang.com

So what i saw was not on the website itself, but appeared as an board entry by some user and had a couple of replies. i didn't saw pictures with people marked on their forehead. ot wasn't even original content but a copy and paste job from another webpage. that list of these 53 people you can find elsewhere on the net on a couple of places, even on a blog that is hosted by the Nation Multimedia Group.

about the (presumable) origin of the list, the first time the list appeared on the internet on december 30, 2009, its kinda a a year-end retrospective. and because in thailand it switched from year 2052 to year 2053 there are 53 people on this list.

thaienews.blogspot.com/2009/12/53-52.html

Go check for yourself how dangerous, conspiratorial and threatening to the national security that list is.

Don't believe all the nonsense The Nation writes about Khattiya. Don't make a fool of yourself repeating some narrow minded propaganda BS. All the :facedesks: after i read so much silly comments hurt after a while.

Inform yourself at some other sources, get additional opinions, try to see and interpret Seh Deang with Thai eves in the Thai context. It is some unique issue you can't compare with your Western world.

Thanks, i just took your advice, won't be reading any more our your posts :) Even most of the hardcore Red backers here have tried to put some distance between this group of kooks and those trying to put forth legitimate complaints. I 'm sure Saeng would be thrilled to know there's still someone who would follow him and his boys into battle

  • 2 weeks later...

It was encouraging to read that the Appeals Court has upheld the Criminal Court's decision to refuse bail for K-Thong (Pornwat) yesterday.

Their decision keeps him in the Bangkok Remand Prison.

They recognized that he would likely resume his bomb threats if released.
