With the new hotel act now coming into force, can somebody tell me what implications it will have for the numerous guesthouses, apartments etc, spread all over Thailand, that actually operates as hotels, but without the hotel licence

i dont know of any new acts coming into force..

it has always been if you rent rooms you need a hotel license, to get a hotel license you need more than 10 rooms, it has for as long as i can remember been law that the renter takes your details and has to inform immigration within 24 hours, thats only periodically enforced though...

I guess you are talking about the new need for Hotels and large buildings in general to supply gas masks that reach a certain european standard. Well, I wont be installing them in my guesthouse until advised to do so by my lawyer. That new law may end up being revoked (or the specifications of the heat resistance of the masks) anyway as it doesnt cater for other large buildings such as Thai government schools etc etc that cannot afford to install such things.
