First Visa Run

Featured Replies

I entered thailand with a double entry tourist visa, which gave me 60 days + 30 dayextension, from my understanding when i do my visa run with this type of visa i get another 60 days + 30 days extension. Am i correct? Do i have to fly somewhere and stay overnight, or can i just do a 1 day in and out visa run on land? What kind of fees for this, the extension was 1900baht. Also where would be the easiest place to do a visa run from chiang mai?

Sorry for the noob q's. :)

Just enter another country/get stamp and return. But your visa has to be valid. Check the use by/before date on the visa itself to make sure you return for second entry before that date.

hi guys,

My double entry tourist visa about to expire. I am in Chiang Mai and looking for the easiest/cheapest option to get a new tourist visa or multi entry visa. at the moment where can I do easily? Laos or Burma?

Thanks for the help..

Within the region you can obtain double entry tourist visa from Vientiane which, with extensions and a border run in the middle, would give you nearly 6 months stay. Or make a trip to Perth for 12 month multiple entry Non-O visa on the basis of visiting friends. Will need to take with you note from Thai friend and signed copy of his/her passport/ID card. 90 day permission to stay on each entry whilst visa is valid; do a final border run before your visa expires to obtain new 90 day entry stretching the visa to 15 months.

thanks a lot. I am a bit confused about the extension. I read it in this site if my tourist visa expires I might able to extend with 30 days here in CM? I had a double entry tourist visa get it last October. I spend 30 days here in November (1st entry), and now I am here all March (2nd entry). My visa is valid till 13th of April. So I am bit confused can I extend with 30 days or have to do the visa run to Vientiane? Sorry abt the noob question this vould be my first visa run/extension here.

Cheers

If you are on a 60 day stay you can extend that stay for 30 days. You will need to visit Immigration with 4x6cm photo, fill out a TM.7 form and pay 1,900 baht. They may also require photo copies of your passport data page/visa and entry stamps and departure card.

I think the second entry is my extension or not? when I entered just got a stamp but nothing abt the extension just the original visa said expires 13th of April. Maybe better go to the Immigration and ask...

I hope its this easy, when i asked in travel agent i was told i could only get extended for 15 days at burma, and 90 days in vientienne Laos and would have to stay in laos a couple of days and pay $35 for visa. But since i have a double entry tourist visa i can just go anywhere and come back for my 2nd entry, another 60+30, is this right?

You do not get an extension on an entry from outside Thailand - it is an entry.

What date did you enter? What date is your permitted to stay stamp? If 60 days you can extend for another 30 days.

As long as your visa is still valid (date on the visa itself) and you have only used one entry of the two you will get a 60 day stamp on return before that visa validity date and that can be extended 30 days.
