Yeah all the cops will tell you that, after in your words," running one over", running away twice is the right thing to do ! Yeah that really passes the smell test ..... NOT

Well, the transaction went fine. My mate paid me, I paid the go between and he got his licence back, guaranteed no recriminations. I asked my copper mate whether he thought it a bit rude that farang ran over a Thai cop and did a runner. Twice. He said that he did the right thing, otherwise he would have gotten a hiding.

Hssl I can get you some Bin 2 if you like. Good price :D

Absolute RUBBISH post. He did the right thing, common WAKEUP :)

There is an arguement that people should take responsibility for their actions.

No sympathy for this guy.

Agreed. Take some responsibility.

There hasn't been much talk here about the state of the guy who got knocked.

Any sympathy for him out there for him?

That is the person who deserves sympathy

A cop? The most corrupt of the corrupt? Running him over and pissing off is quite sad, really . . . and I think the driver got off too lightly. Where's the lesson learned about driving while drunk?

Thai police are honorable. I'm sure their word is their honour.

Lesson learnt? Drink driving is wrong, everyone knows that. It just seems to be ok after you have had a few and you want to get home I assume. I have a driver so I don't need to worry about that stuff.

Will he still drink and drive? Almost certainly as he is a bit of an idiot.

You seem to have a high opinion of your "mate"

Just paraphrasing what he says

What an odd thing to say . . . Of course everyone knows it is wrong and most everyone limits their drinking so as not to be in that situation. You sound as though you actually condone it by your words or have you had too many on the odd occasion at Taren Pont?

Bribe for getting caught with a single joint on Koh Panghan is up to 70'000. Looks like they should run over the MIB before being searched. Amazing Thailand.

So, what have I learned from this thread?

That given the right circumstances, farangs are just as corrupt as the people they usually complain about.

kurnell,

I don't have an issue with you, ur actually one of the good guys in my eyes, but clearly your mate is an idiot. It saddens me greatly because <deleted> like him eventually bring pain and suffering to some poor unsuspecting individual, for no other reason than the fact hes an ignorant pr1ck and can't be bothered jumping in a taxi (they are dead cheap here).

Anyway, I'm stating the obvious here, I hope this douchebag mate of yours is killed in a single vehicle, single occupant MVA and nobody else has to suffer at his hands......its only a matter of time. Drinking & driving is well known to be a fatal cocktail. Your mate needs to wake up & as his mate you should be the one to kick the <deleted> out of him so to speak to see if you can bring some sense to him. enuff said. :)

Either stop drinking or stop texting. Thump thump??? I don't follow, unless you mean masturbation, thumping the lump and all that?

Kernell, I think you are back on the piss again and the whole story is at least a gross exaggeration or fabrication.

And because of you and others here, I'm going to take a break from Thai Visa for a while. Logging off.

You might like to know that there are many farang and Thai who are responsible when it comes to drink driving.

On many occasions (family birthdays etc.) I have deliberately parked my car in a safe place, had a few drinks, taken a taxi home and gone back next day to pick up my car, in fact I did it about 10 days ago and left my car at the Amari hotel in Pattaya. My concerns have two directions:

- Protection of my family

- Respsonsibility to other people.

Initially my extended Thai family though I was stupid for doing this, now many of them do the same thing.

Completely dry. Thanks for asking.

yes, an idiot. One hopes he has to face his responsibilities. There is a family somewhere this morning greiving the loss or injury of a loved one.

BS there is a family somewhere saying "Awesome farang, how much can we extort"

Where did I say that there aren't many Thais and/or non-Thais that don't drink and drive . . . I actually stated as much.

Assuming a true tale, then you have to wonder how much difference having a cop doing the negotiations made, especially if he was senior to the one who got knocked over... if he had stopped or gone in on his own it could have added up to lots more dosh.

Just a quick follow up. My mate had another accident while pissed, totally righted off his Civic. Not his fault, I think he said. Police didn't breath test him. Before anyone says anything, yes I know he will never learn.

Your mate has an interesting life. What Star sign is he?

Can you give me his favourite 6 numbers too. I'm going to buy a lottery ticket.

Nothing more to be gained by leaving this topic open for debate.

OP - glad your mate's car is a write-off - hopefully some time walking and dealing with the consequences of his actions will make him appreciate his next vehicle enough to use it sensibly, without endagering himself and other people beyond the normal level of danger associated with Thai roads.
