Nana To New Airport On Saurday,

Recommended Posts

Help please, we will be in Soi Nana on the 27th and need to be at the new airport for 6pm to go to airport to Koh Samui, any advise on the best way to do this, would we be better to stay at Airport on 26th to be closer ready for the evening flight. If Airport a better option then please advise a good one to stay in with pool would be good.

No need to stay at the airport on the 26th. Go to Soi Nana, have a good time and, on the 27th., make sure you leave your hotel or whatever about 3 hours, 3 and a half be better, before your flight takes off. There is direct access to the highway next to Sukhumvit Soi 1...

If you are traveling fairly light, my choice would be skytrain to Phrakhanong and then a taxi. You want to depart from the station on the side of Sukhumvit with outbound traffic (with the odd numbered sois). The taxi will need to negotiate the lights at Soi 71, but then you are on the expressway and quickly at the airport.

This does not work as well in the other direction, coming from the airport.

Allow some time to wait for a taxi, as they can be scarce on a Saturday afternoon.

Normally it would take around 30 minutes from Nana to the airport on saturday, using the Ploenchit express road. BUT be aware of the red shirts on this exact Saturday, as they expect, that several million people will join their protest on saturday, to make the biggest protest in history, and Sukhumvit road will definitely be a place to avoid, if you travel by car (taxi).

I suggest that you change your flight to Friday, which should be ok. Sunday could still be a bit risky, if the protest should continue. Soi Nana is not really worth a visit, unless you go there to be close to Nana Plaza.

Alternatively you could leave soi Nana in the morning and head to one of the airport hotels to spend the day. BTS would be another option, but I would not count on it, as the red shirts could easily block some of the stations, which would result in a closure of the whole BTS system.

Bon voyage.
