moresomekl
As long as Thaksin is the LEADER of the reds (as his daily phone-ins show) and the primary financier it is impossible to separate the movement from the fact that exonerating a criminal is part and parcel with the red shirt goals. That of course does not mean that people can't be sympathetic to people in Thailand dealing with poverty and poor education and this is NOT limited to farmers in Isaan and the North. It does mean that supporting the Red shirt movement is supporting Thaksin. If the folks wearing Red shirts want credibility, particularly internationally, they must get rid of Thaksin and get rid of leadership that is beholding to Thaksin. The red shirts rank and file dont give a rat ass about credibility , international or domestic . They are supporting the boss that gives them 500THB a day so that they can send 300THB or more back home to feed the kids ,pay the loans , buy a colour TV , a fridge or a motorbike . On that i cant blame them , what other alternative do they have ?
moresomekl
Do they think foreign governments are stupid enough to support Taksin? Do they not know what diplomacy is about? Actually, do you really think foreign governments even care? They only care when there is a specific reason important to them to care. Other than that, they couldn't care less about the political problems in Thailand. Exactly right

If the folks wearing Red shirts want credibility, particularly internationally, they must get rid of Thaksin and get rid of leadership that is beholding to Thaksin. They openly mention on their stage every day that they are going to return Thaksin. They dont put this in their press statements and the red sympathetcic journos, analystys and bloggers dont mention it ever as they either dont understnad Thai or want to perpetuate the idea that the reds have moved beyond Thaksin. If they dump him they'll lose most of their suppot but not all and Thjaksin will set a new group up which will rapidly become bigger than the rump reds. They need him as he is very popular or letsa put it this way. he is more popualr than they are. That could change in the future but so could lots of other things but the reds certainly havent moved beyond him yet and wont anytime soon. By the way Crispin mentyions an intersting e-mail pic shgowing Veera and Sae Daeng embracing in Dubai after the UDD-Sae Daeng split leaving conjecture that it is a cometic rather than real split. LuckyFive8888
Sedition is the incitement of public disorder and rebellion against the government. If this is what is required to bring about real economic - social - and political change in Thailand then bring it on. It's looking more and more like a political certainty if the Red Shirt movement doesn't change its tact any time soon. (Incidentally - I'm not an advocate of any form of violence - political or other - if anyone happened to wonder.) "Sedition is the incitement of public disorder and rebellion against the government. If this is what is required to bring about real economic - social - and political change in Thailand then bring it on." "I'm not an advocate of any form of violence" Those statements don't really go together. typical thaksin-red shirt attitude.

kraxlhuber
He [Jatuporn] also warned if the military presence remains in Bangkok, more violence will break out and the capital will end up in the same way as the insurgency-ridden southern provinces. So all the bombs that go off after the weekend can be blamed on Jatuporn. EDIT: Meanwhile, temporary toilets have been constructed to service red-shirt protesters. They've been there 2 & 1/2 weeks, and they don't have toilets???? if i may ask, do the protesters sometime change their clothes, undies and all/ And do they take a bath sometimes? Must be quite smelly by now!!
