There's some great video of the freedom fighters and their brothers in the army, I hope you are not missing it. It's certainly better than farang fighting.

Once again - your opinion of Jatuporn is? A freedom fighter? Do you support him and his call for the derailing of BTS trains?...

posts crossed- so you think most Thais support jatuporn now?

Today I just witnessed the worse national disgrace and misuse of the military since I watched the East Germans Army trampled their neighbors with similar shields as we just watched on TV.

Soldiers are supposed to exist to protect the Country and its citizens. Today we watched as politicians used these soldiers to trample their friends and families and children and monks and all to try to hold the poor and dis-enfranchized Thais hostage to their quest for continued power over them.

I won't bother to respond to anyone who would attempt to defend this disgrace.

The whole government is responsible for this disaster now. There can be no excuse for this disgrace brought on the country and these soldiers. If they had any integrity they would submit the resignations NOW.

So you haven't watched hundreds of riots in western countries in the last 20 years involving riot police?

Plenty of Bulshits from every side during such actions... real, Fake, intox... everything is on going.

Please exert some restraint.

The Battle will be win but the aftermaith may be backfiring.

Yes you are right the red rank and file may loose a battle but they will win the war at the end

If the reds lose this battle, they will have lost the war.

Their only aim for these protests is for house dissolution in 15 days (that's gotta be about a week ago by now), and they are not going to get it.

I thought it was to bring back Thaksin ? Not they changed ? dam_n :)

Their aim of the protests is house dissolution. Then they can start on bringing Thaksin back. No change. It's still all about Thaksin.

we have to excuse those veterans who cannot play anymore on a battlefield... they are nostalgic of the Good Time of the War....

Looks like Abhisit won't last as long as we thought! We won't miss him; he won't miss the political life either. He was just not cut out for it; I mean that as a compliment.

What makes you think he won't last? The army are doing what he wants. He's taking control.

:) He hasn't seen any G8 WorldBanc g20 etc riots either. Much less October 7th of 2008 right here in Thailand.

The government has done everything by the book and been VERY gentle so far. The threats from the Red stages seem to be something that kjp doesn't acknowledge at all. The red history of violence and the red history of inciting violence seems to escape kjp as well. pathetic.

This is unbelievable. People actually rationalizing terrorist threats from red shirt leaders. Truly amazing. BTW, I doubt there are many innocent reds out today, more like the ones pointing spears and wielding clubs against Thai soldiers. Read the news and stay up to date, instead of resorting to lame propaganda, why don't you?

You guys keep mentioning that Jatuporn threatened to derail the skytrain. Where is the credible source for this statement? Nobody has yet posted a source to back up this statement. A video perhaps?

It must be real, someone heard it on ASTV, the FOXNews of Thailand!

Was he? Or maybe you haven't seen the blackjacketed para-military reds - I didn't see any women or children among them see . And sorry, I don't see anything funny about jatuporns threat or the situation today. Interesting that you do, though

If you were made to believe this was true, would you drop your support for the reds? (I didn't think so.)

Jatuporn made the statement on stage live on UDD TV. Thousands of us saw it, as evidenced by lots of tweets as well. I somehow doubt the UDD video archives will be forthcoming in providing you with a copy.

BTS saw it as well. That's why the Skytrain system was promptly shut down.

Today, my brothers, you are watching marvelously choreographed street theatre. Credit must be given to both the Red producers and their Army brothers. Brinksmanship, Thai style. It's a good thing the farang anger that can explode at any minute is not present at the rallies. Let's hope it stays that way.

Yes, I would like to see the international media now take note that the red shirt movement is led by terrorists. For a while, the naive fools were buying the propaganda that this was a non-violent, pro-democracy, movement. It is time for the world leaders to take sides now, for the reasoned civilized government (which WAS elected legally and has scheduled future elections, just not on the forced timetable of the terrorists), and against red shirt terrorists fueled by radical Maoists.

And let the media also remind the world that ALL it would take for this to stop

is for there to be an election to get rid of this army installed government......not such a hard thing to do

if people really want peace :)

All it would take for this to stop is a single speech by Thaksin telling his lackeys to stop, that he really was guilty and received the justice he deserved. How about an apology from the demagogue for the misery he has caused, and submission to serving his jail time and other punishments?

But no, his selfishness and that of his followers will persist. An election would solve nothing. Whichever side loses will not accept it. Thaksin is the problem. Not the electoral process. All the bluster in the world by the Thaksin apologists will not change that fact.

All the red shirts have to do if they really want peace is to denounce their paymaster. But they would rather continue terrorizing the entire nation for their own selfish reasons.

We are obviously seeing the final days of the protest.

So where are all the Red Shirts ? If they are so popular as they claim to be, all their supporters should be in the street right now. They should have got out from their home to protest.

But they don't ? It's only the same people from the North that they keep bringing with money.

Spoke to some taxi driver who were offered 2000 bath to bring in their taxi for a day. They had no shame telling they went to the protest for the money.

I hope this ends this weekend, it's getting pointless and everyone can see the truth. They been telling us for a long time to see the ''Truth Today''. Well all Bangkok people know what is the red Shirts now.

Which means in plain english that if there is general elections , the red side (PTP) will win them or else how to bring back Thaksin ? Right Which means that the Abhisit regime has not the support of the majority of thais .

I never doubted that ...

But am not am not for immediate general election myself . They all need to calm down and change the military junta constitution .

I don't suppose that you were in Los Angeles during the Rodney King riots. The military (National Guard) had to be called in.

I have no problems with civil disobedience, and yes the very nature of civil disobedience is to defy the law, but the word "civil" is key. It can not by definition become violent or threatening to the general public or the police. It must remain civil. We are well beyond that at this point.

We have just spoken to the monk who came to our house in Chiang Mai. I expressed my disgust that monks were part of the protest in Bangkok. He was absolutely adamant that these were not real monks - "Monks should not be involved in politics" he said.

Also my friend has just returned from BKK where the night before last he reported seeing thousands of drunk people and some walking around with machettes, truncheons and even a few with guns. I think the poor government is on a hiding to nothing against this mob of Thaksin's henchmen. I dread them returning to Chiang Mai

The only source I could find is on the Nation's website. Not credible enough for you, I know.

The other paper mentions the BTS being shutdown. A threat by the reds is a credible reason for doing that.

The question still remains: IF he said that, what would you say about it?

So was that statement, if it was indeed made, done before or after the army said it would bring in soldiers with the skytrain?

Before

to my knowledge no one said the army where coming in by sky train

I of coarse may be wrong so please show me the evidence

Hmmm so you are Pro-Coup AND now Pro-terrorism? What does it matter when or why the protesters were told by thier leaders to destroy the sky-trains?
