It has just been announced by the Redshirts (from the stage) that the EC has ordered the dissolution of the Democratic party??? Can that be possible?

They look like a pretty jubilant crown right now. Sounds crazy but that is what was announced just 5 mins ago.....6:45pmI

From the New York Times a real newspaper of record.

Not hard to guess why this guy didn't want a picture taken,

doesn't fit in well with the peaceful reds image,

nor with blaming the army for all deaths.

Spin, spin and more spin.

These guys are hardly "the Jackal" are they. In the day and age of camera phones and a society that seems to actively encourage journalists into the fray, why on earth would a "spook" march up and down the road with dressed like spider man carrying an AK47. Wouldn't you just carry pistols and lots of concealed clips? Why would you mingle with the crowd anyway? If you want to shoot people, you go up in a building don't you?

There is nothing to prove conclusively that he is red or army, (other than the writing on his pouch, which is hardly subtle is it), which still doesn't mean a thing.

I wait for Frenchmen with onions and a robber with a bag of "swag" over his shoulder as the next culprit.

And if he was that worried about getting photographed why wouldn't he have just shot the photographer anyway?

Change your Rhetoric even Abhisit and Anupong are not accusing the Reds!!!

Not publicly. I believe what the government and military are doing is separating the peaceful redshirts from the terrorist blackshirts and terrorist redshirts. Again - we know that the redshirt security wears black. We know Sae Daeng's group wears black. The caption in the NYT says it was a redshirt guard. There are photos and video all over the place of redshirts toting firearms, firing weapons, throwing molotov cocktails.. The rhetoric from the red stages has been ultra-violent in nature. The redshirts even kidnapped somone today. The redshirts declared war publicly. The redshirts attempted to storm the army headquarters. The redshirts threatened to derail the BTS. Sae Daeng publicly stated that his group launched bombs and shot people. Sae Daeng runs the militant wing of the red shirts and has been photographed recently with Thaksin. What more do you need?

^banning someone for a cooking show is indeed harsh. :)

Totally untrue and you know it Brit. Shame on you. Samak was 'disqualified'. He could have returned to power the very next day, but was stabbed in the back by Thaksin as he wanted to run things his own way. Somchai took over.

As JD said, he was walking freely in red lines with a major piece of hardware, and not wanting to be photographed..

And the NYTimes picks it up... you tell the Times not to draw a conclusion.

This guy is a walking conclusion.

Not too sure who said what here, or who is drawing what conclusion, but to be fair JD did not say "he was walking freely in red lines with a major piece of hardware, and not wanting to be photographed" - neither did the NY Times, so unless JD saw her himself he could not have had any basis for saying that. As has already been pointed out, the photo itself is peculiar - there is no sign of anyone else in the area, which is unusual when comparing it to the others in the set of 10, and it could have been of anyone, anywhere; additionally, the weapon could not have been fired in the condition it is in in the photos (some parts are missing/broken). Whatever your view of Thai autotopsies (and mine is not too complimentary!), the AK47 fires a totally different round to the M-16 (7.62 short vs 5.56) which results in a very different wound which you would not need an autopsy or even a decent bullet remnant to identify.

Unless there is any more information on the photo, which is unlikely, it means nothing by itself.

OK, lets see now, after a few day's how the picture looks. Those red shirt supporters here should now really be red in their faces. Today;s statement by their leader takes the cake:

Abhisit is possessed by the spirit of a dead general ........ ehem - and those are the people you would like to rule this country - the same people that had spells cast over the government and excrement thrown at the PM's house ? :) According to their leader they made a difference though .. male excrement for one purpose - female for another and Katoy for .... - hmmm really capable people .. may be they will have some pygmies from PNG come over to help them put up some totems ...... oh forgot the ever powerful blood curses for which they collected their own blood .. that should impress all Voodoo followers ....

The red shirt leader declared today that the chap with the AK47 was only collecting army guns dropped by the soldiers ... problem here is that the Thai Army did not use AK47's

Oh well, congratulations to all you red shirt fans who think this country needs quick elections so Thaksin can get back into power. Those wise red shirt leaders of course know best what is good for Thailand and they are such a peaceful lot ... well besides the few grenades, petrol bombs, lit gas tanks, AK47 fire, ...... punching government MP's and kidnapping ......
