Quoting Namkrangman..
Tourism down in Thailand means big trouble for a lot of Thai's to put food on the table and I don't mean the wealthy landlords or owners, I mean the staff.

Yeah it does for some but not all Thai's as they don't work in the tourist industry, but read the below please...

BANGKOK (NNT) -- General Manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport Nirandra Theeranartsin is confident the mass rally will not affect the number of passengers traveling during Songkran Hoildays.

Mr Nirandra said over 1.3 million passengers are expected at Suvarnabhumi Airport from 9-18 April during the festival. Domestic and foreign airlines are asking for more flight visits during the 10 days period. Out of the additional 558 flights, 486 are international and 72 are domestic.

Now read the OP's post, I think it said that 100 flights had been cancelled due to the protests and that was just Asian flights, so try and put some blame on the red leaders eh. :) There might have been more profit in the pie if they hadnt have protested over Songkran eh.

About 100 charter flights from China to Thailand for this week's Songkran festival, the Thai traditional New Year, have been cancelled as a result of the State of Emergency in Bangkok and nearby provinces and the bloody clashes of Saturday April 10.

Only 10 charter flights remain scheduled during April 10-13, as Chinese travellers are not confident regarding Thailand’s security under the current political circumstances.

According to Thai-Chinese Tourism Alliance Association (TCTA) president Wichit Prakobkosol, some 30 charter flights remained in operation during the timeframe the Thai government invoked the Emergency Decree on April 7. However, the violent clashes between security forces and anti-government protesters on Saturday evening which left 21 people dead and more than 800 injured led to further flight cancellations.

TIT - do you believe everything they say here???? You probably believe a bar girl when she say, "You handsome man."

It's all "talking it up." It's all "spin." Many have cancelled, or changed their destinations. These are the facts.

Thailand will always be a major tourist destination, however, their competition are rising up at a fast rate and Thailand can no long just survive because it's "Thailand." They will have to clean up their act and become competetive.

They are also outpricing themselves in the South East Asian holiday destination market.

Hey, MB1 - did you know the world is flat.
