What do you lot think of the Scissor Sisters?

I know that many gay people don't want to be associated with gays who are openly gay and in your face about it which I understand.

I think the SS are an excellent band and there isn't a bad song on the album and they make very very good pop songs... I recently bought the DVD to see what they looked like and was a bit dissapointed to see how 'in your face' they were with the whole gay thing and at a concert, the singer Jake Shears wore a leotard with a sequin cock & balls on it.

Why? :D

You don't see even the most hetrosexual of performers wearing tits and fanny imagary on their clothes and Erasure's Andy Bell never even went that far and some of his costumes were pretty risque.

Secondly, to keep this Thai related, how do you think they will fare in Thailand?

Is it likely they will ever play the Impact Arena? :o

When I first heard the song 'Laura', despite loving it to bits I ended up feeling very bitter as it was the closest thing to my own style of songwriting I had ever heard and made me wonder if I had done the right thing by giving up when I did.

The 'Ladyboys of Bangkok' were on at the Edinburgh festival when I was in Scotland 2 years ago.

Um....

I can't think of a punchline.....

sorry.

Scampy - I've generally enjoyed your posts in the past and just about concede that your "Gay for a day" post arguably triggered some responses that may have been useful to some readers (how's that for tenuous?).............. but - don't you think it may be starting to look as if you just like poking a stick into an ants nest? And isn't that as close to trolling as makes no difference? :o

I assure you I'm not 'taking the piss' though my first line could have been more tactfully put so you can be forgiven for thinking otherwise as it only served as 'Moog bait'. :D

It is a genuine post based on recent observations and that's all there is too it, I post in the ladies forum and the food foum and I like to get around and explore and meet different people just as I do in reality.

I'm not one of these provocative semi trolls that likes to think he's being clever by geting a reaction from this minority and that minority, alas many of that mindset may think that and I don't want to be seen as their shephard.

Blokes who go around proving how masculine and hetro they are I find irksome and I just wondered if the gay minority saw the likes of Jake Shears in a similar light from their side.

I don't think you should be in anyone's face whatever your sexual, political or social viewpoint.

This post is also for other fans of the band, like myself, who have an opinion on their chances of sucess in Thai society.

Apparently they are bigger in the U.K. than they are their native NYC and apparently this is to do with their outragous 'outishness'.

OK, enough said - and I'll always take a "Gentleman" at his word. Not least because I've never even heard of the Scissor Sisters (but that's my problem) :D

Can you reprint some of your lyrics for us please.

I once met a mischivous dude,

Who goes by the name of The Moog,

It is rather queer,

that he trolls around here,

'cause the members are not in the mood.

Well, it isn't a Thai topic nor a particularly interesting topic for gays, so I agree this is trolling.

Since it's an entirely off-topic thread by any standards, though, I'll take the moment to ask the Moog- is your name inspired by the famous synthesizer? If so, it would be pronounced to rhyme with "vogue," wouldn't it? Or is this another Moog?

Surely the Moog synthesizer is pronounced regularly?? - m-oo-g? :o Now you've got me confused.

It is another Moog actually. Inspired by the Kenneth Williams cult, camp, children's cartoon 'Willo The Wisp' ...in which 'The Moog' is a yappy sausage dog that reports to a cat that impersonates Noel Coward.

It is the sort of cartoon that operates on different levels.

As you point out, kitsch like this is ephemera - but tailing a Gentleman Scamp topic, anything is allowable !

The pronunciation here is the cow noise.... 'Moo-g'.
