Using A Visa... Confusion.?

Featured Replies

I will be visiting LOS on 2 occaisions soon..

June 9-23

July 12 - Sept 12

I have just got a 60-day Visa in my Passport for the SECOND (longer) visit.

When I turn up in BKK, how do I explain that for the first trip I just want the 30-day Stamp-in - and NOT to use the 60day Visa.

What I mean to say is, when I arrive on June 9 I suspect that the agent will see the 60-day visa and immediately want to stamp it used.....

The rules are that you cannot reserve the visa for a subsequent visit, but you MIGHT persuade the officer to permit you to do it. Be aware that your longer visit exceeds 60 days by 3 days.

Ohhhk.

Well, I had to get the visa now, because there's only 2 weeks between my first trip (next week) and my second trip.... No time to apply between trips.

The 60-day Tourist Visa is in my American Passport, and I know my trip is longer, and so will have to get an extension. How do I do that..? and how many days is allowed for the extension..? Can I just go to Immigration, or do I have to do a Visa Run..???

BUT, for my first visit, I also have a valid British Passport... which has no visas in it.. so maybe I just give them that one for the first visit and get the Don Muang automatic 30day stamp in that one.?

Sssh.

Go for it. A 30 day extension is doable at Immigration for a bargain 1900 baht. You could overstay the 3 days and pay 600 baht fine. Alas, that does have risks.

Chris,

I know of at least three people who asked Imm not to activate their 60 day tourist Visa on entry, but rather give them a 30 day stamp on arrival...all three were successful in doing so!

Good luck! And you can but try.
