I'm confused... I rang my consulate regarding the proposed address in thailand and local guarantor with being told to leave the prosed address and just put a family member as guarantor. I also said that "i heard that the visa fees have been waved" her reply was "No not true" <deleted> :D does this only apply in Thailand and not in other countries or something? or am i being mislead by a thai in my own country!! :)

Two things you need to understand.

First of all, unless I'm wrong which happens often, I believe the fees were waived on tourist visas only. They don't apply to non O visas as I understood it.

Secondly, the Thai consulates can't say yes it is true until they get official information from their bosses in Thailand. And the bosses have been notoriously slow in passing that information on to the consulates.

Oh and thirdly, (if that's possible) all Thai consulates make their own decisions until they are forced by someone to change and follow the rules from above.

TIT (This Is Thailand) even in your own country applies.

The order apparently has not been given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yet so no place can provide free until they receive the word to do so.
