Could anyone tell me which is the best and most simplest bank to open an account in Bangkok ? The person opening the account only has a tourist visa !

The big Bangkok Bank on Suk Road opposite the Ambassador Hotel is very straightfordward although I have never had any problems with any apart from the ones in Secon Square (but MPR)

Go up to the first floor,turn right and right again and have word with the lady on the desk.

When I opened an account at Bank of Asia in Sukhumvit, next to the Landmark Hotel, they were very helpful. If you see the young guy in glasses make a beeline for him, very bright and speaks good English

However I was unaware you could open an account on a Tourist Visa? Is that true?

very true - try it ! not only in Bkk bank - almost anylocal banks. BUT only savings acc.
