Dear All,

A daughter's friend is currently very sick (mucoviscidose - cystic fibrosis) in Thailand, since 2 days she is now at the hospital - intensive care section. Her Daughter is german nationality and my friend doesn't have so much money left to pay the hospital and to bring her kid back to Germany.

Is there any chance the German Embassy in Thailand could help her in any way either by providing support to her there and/or to organise the repatriation of the kid in Germany?

I tried to call the German Embassy in Bangkok many times times this morning but couldn't get through.

Please let me know if someone knows somebody at the German Embassy or have any information that might help. It could be a critical situation.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

with Best regards,

Julian

I think that the correct procedure as you may know by now is that the embassy can only help in giving money in emergency when family members have deposited money with the German foriegn ministry or as with some countries, depositing collateral such as title deeds, bonds, etc.

However, sometimes there's a trust fund left by an individual or charity to help people overseas in this kind of emergency. They should know if anything like this exists.

Embassies also sometimes raise money to help strandard people but the amount available isn't usually very much. The UK embassy can help with just a few thousand baht sometimes.

If you are an assertive type and you really don't have any of your own money for this then you might want to contact your local newspaper back home to help raise some money. Corporations can save tax by donating money.

Hi

IS a very sad case.

You shoudl try contact with German Embassy for support.

Also contact German media, or international media to expose this dramatic case, to make pressure on the German Goverment. There should be journalists of DPA german news agencies covering the political events, you should try to contact them..

Good luck and hope this could be solved well...

The Deutscher Hilfsverein does help people, especially elderly and children, in emergency situations. Ms.Franziska Chawla is the Supervisor there and should be able to assist. Otherwise, make sure this is being adressed to the embassy.
