Rimmer
Potential Flooding Fix Causes Sukhumvit Road Chaos PATTAYA:-- A massive multi-million baht drain is currently under construction along Pattaya’s Sukhumvit Road. Local administrators believe that the drain will significantly improve the inherent flooding that affects the area during times of inclement weather and prevent further, potentially fatal, road collapses. At a cost of Bt36 million the project will reduce the south bound section of Sukhumvit Road by one lane whilst constructions are carried out. Contractors have been given a stringent 3 month time schedule which will see the project completed by the 16th of July 2010, It has been revealed that severe fines will be imposed on the contractors should the development exceed the deadlines laid down in the contract. wpcoe
What's the final destination of the diverted water? Is it simply being routed toward the beach and into the Gulf, or is it being directed to ponds (Lake Mabprachan?) where it can be collected for the upcoming dry seasons? Pretty tricky making flood water flow uphill.

I guess it's straight into the sea then together with all the debris, litter, dog shit, cigarete butts, rotting leftovers from food stalls, dead rats, sewage overflows and whatever conceivable muck your imagination conjures up? Pretty tricky making flood water flow uphill. Okay, forget Lake M, then. How about some lagoon in the area bounded by Sukhumvit, Thepprasit, Thepprasit Soi 7, and Soi Wat Boon? (Or on the other side of Soi Wat Boon?) It seems like a waste to have all that liquid wasted, when folks go without water in the dry season. Doesn't at last *some* of the storm drain water runoff get processed through a fliltration plant on Soi Wat Boon on its journey to the sea? moo9
What's the final destination of the diverted water? I assume Sai Sam, Soi Bukhao, Soi Lenkee, Soi Chaiyapoon....the usual wet spots during the rain season. Better prepare your boat for the coming months.... Chang_paarp
Good to see the work started at about the normal rainy season starts. Probably a good thing the rain is late this year.
