PM Abhisit To Red-Shirts: Leave Today

Just out of curiosity - who's paying for the electricty and water currently being used by the reds. As far as i was aware you needed an address in order for a bill to be delivered. Hope the electricity isn't 'free' everyone else has to pay for their electricty including the reds - no double standards please.

I don't understand about cutting off power and water. These mafia freaks have their own generators and their own water tanks. So what the hel_l are we talking about!!

May be they want all non red residents to leave the area because of an imminent crackdown - their water and power will be cut off too I'd guess - one lives in hope

Never mind the small stuff. It's the PHONES! All the women would run for the nearest signal in a frenzy. :)

I observed yesterday on my walkabout that these freaks "running the show" have 2 to 3 handphones each, I suggest that the Govt should bring these networks down or block all signals in the area. Stuff them up.

It has been very discouraging to see Veera Musikapong side-lined as a speaker on the red stage the longer the protest has dragged on. Obviously with him being one of the more moderate leaders, he’s been axed as prime speaker, as the red leaderhip seems to favor more a fire-brand violence inciting line of b/s political rhetoric than a more middle of the road approach when preaching to the red mob.

Veera's far and away the smartest 'statesman' in the stable of red-core-leaders, and is an old player on the thai political scene. He FAR outshines whack-job-Weng :D in political savvy as well as behind the scenes negotiations (which will be the key to unlocking this whole mess). The news that he will surrender to the CSD at 2PM doesn't bode well for the cohesiveness of the remaining red leadership, although they just came out and said the two leaders Veera Musikapong and Korkaew Pikulthong will NOT surrender at 2, so who do you believe?

With that being said; the proposed power, water, phone line cut, as well as a bus, train & boat lock down doesn't bode well for the run-of-the-mill protestors either. :D Mark my words it’s the rank-n-file protestors and the soldiers given the unenviable job of rousting them who will be the ONLY casualties; if/when the red-rabble-mob is evicted from their two bamboo/rubber tire 'tree-forts' at Rachaprasong and Lumpini/Rama VI monument.

I wager not a single red-leader will be harmed, (although a person could hope that red-wing-nut; Khattiya Sawasdipol aka; Seh Daeng is struck by an errant round :) ).

Most of the leadership will have taken off for parts unknown long before any violence starts.

Think about it, cutting off the power and water for the whole area means that anyone living or working there will not be there by tomorrow - an easy way to evacuate the area of civilians - strategically a great move before declaring marshal law and finally ending the whole <deleted>

What a joke....Not only they advertise 12 hours what they gonna do, just to make sure that reds can prepare themselves in case they forgot such a major detail....

But, anyway, reds have shown already that they planned almost everything, and I am pretty sure that they have loads of generators and fuel to run them, as well as water tanks. They surely thought that this situation might happen, and have already made necessary arrangements. The ones who are going to suffer are AGAIN the people living in the area, the same that have already seen their life disrupted by these terrorists....

So, what next ???

So whats going on then? ANybody got any updates? I work just around the corner from Rajdaprasong and i can't see the tens of trucks leaving via New Petchaburi Road yet, so i guess they're all leaving via another route??

Can anybody give us a sensible update on the current situation?

the nearby residents will be forced to leave and the reds will be extending and looting into the deserted areas.

Thaksin probably promised the Sanam Luang inhabitants that this will be theirs and when he comes back he will remodel and take over the whole area to recoup his ill gotten money, - far fetched?

It's become a farce. The Red shits :) had a great opportunity on Monday to declare a moral victory, have one big party and send everyone home happy.

It's obvious that Taksin is the one making the decisions here and not the Red Shirt leaders.

The government are unable to solve this issue and have only served to drag it out longer than necessary. They are unable to send in the keystones cops and the army are just as useless.

You've failed PM and you no longer have any control over your country. Step down. Your time is up! :D

as I said above, that is, in my opinion the intention to clear the area of civilians - otherwise it would be rather useless considering they have generators and huge water reserves

Time to take a dump or get off the pot!!

I dont understand the way Abhisit is thinking. Why give them notice of what you are going to do???

I am getting sick of hearing idle threats..... they mean diddly squat, and I am sure the red shirts know that.

If you count back over the last few weeks, how many times the Govt have warned about this or warned about that... its a joke.

If the Govt are either powerless to do something, or dont want to do something.... then why keep making the threats????

After the first couple of threats were shown to be empty hands, any subsequent 'threat' or warning' is superfluous.

Back to square one - only now the gov't has more popular support for the crackdown that the reds have been begging for.

If the reds get their wish - a violent confrontation with deaths of innocent people, soldiers, police, protesters, journalists and inevitably the odd caught-in-the-crossfire non-participant - will even their own have any sympathy for them?

Seems hard to imagine.

Have you given any thought that this may be PM Abhisit plan. Bit like calling "fire fire"??

well, they need to warn the nearby residents, it can't be kept secret. I don't blame them on that.

But I can see the residential area being replaced with forces, some very loyal to the reds, and they will go for a looting. They will call in trucks to get the loot out, telling their friends back home they were on Tula (business) and now heading home to share their freshly gained trophies. :)

I think/hope this is the first step now on a crackdown - cutting off water and electricity as well as transportation by midnight will cause most or even all civilians in the area to depart. Much easier than calling ML and evacuating them during a panic

I hope so anyway and than tomorrow the area will be ready for the army to finally do their job

Looting and destroying property (as in one of the leaders who said a couple of weeks back that 'you won't get Central World back on one piece' or something like that) is a bad move for the Reds at all levels. If the reactions of locals I know is anything to go by, post-crackdown tv images of destroyed and looted private property will cause similar public backlash to the Reds credibility at election time as the hospital invasion.

It'll also ensure they get banged up for a long time as they'll never be able to use the moral defence of 'fighting for political freedom' to justify it.

They never had any moral defense to start with

For all the specialists who know what to do (right or wrong, it's not my beer), this link can give you a deeper understanding of the actual situation.

Don't forget: Thaksin and Abhisit have chinese Hakka-Han roots. For me it's sure that A. knows The Art of War (Sun-Tzu), for T. I'm not sure, because he comes from a family of loan-sharks.

I studied the book these days and I found a lot of congruences with the actual situation. A. seems irresolute, but I found some reasons why - but look by yourself.

Weng: We will run at soldiers with bare hands, even if they fire with assault rifles.

Shouldn't Weng have used 'they' rather than 'we' here? Not a cat in hel_l's chance he will be anywhere near the front line.

How I hate these rabble-rousers who throw away others' lives so cheaply.

According to Sun Tzu one sure way to defeat is

By commanding the army to advance or to retreat,

being ignorant of the fact that it cannot obey.

This is called hobbling the army.

And another one apt for this situation

He will win whose army is animated by the same

spirit throughout all its ranks.

Doesn't look good for Abhisit on Sun Tzu's reckoning if you ask me... :)
