Hi

I have tried to find this subject on this forum but it seems it never been posted. So here we go...

I got married recently to farang girl in Thailand (we are both farangs leaving in thailand) and she has work permit and also Non B Visa. at the moment I am on Tourist Visa and we have heard that if one person has work permit the husband's (tourist) visa can be attached to wife's Non B visa. Is it true? if yes what documents do we need for this and where do we need to go to change my tourist visa to non b?

Many thanks for help

No that is not true - but if they have an extension of stay the spouse could obtain a non immigrant O visa and then obtain a matching extension of stay from Immigration.

It would require presenting copy of marriage certificate and copy of spouse passport with the extension of stay to obtain the non immigrant O visa from a Consulate.

There have been many posts on this subject in the forum.

If your wife's permission to stay is based on extension of stay for work (issued by Thai immigration) as opposed to Non-Immirant visa entry (visa issued by embassy/consulate abroad) then it is possible for you to piggy back your wife's extension of stay. As a start you will need to obtain single entry Non-O visa from embassy/consulate abroad (against show of marriage certificate and wife's passport and extension of stay/work permit) and 60 days later you can apply for your own extension of stay at Thai immigration to match timewise that of your wife.
